matthewbas Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 I have done a search and read alot of pages but not to many realy say what is a good sensitive rod. Looking for the most sensitive rod for baitcasting under 200 thanks Quote
BassinSoldier Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 most sensitive I have ever touched for 200 even is my daiwa zillion Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted May 4, 2009 Super User Posted May 4, 2009 You'll likely get a lot of different answers....such as St Croix Avid and Shimano Crucial et al. I'm going to bet the overwhelming response will favor the Avid. Lots of good ones in that price range and some might even be less than $150. Quote
cbfishalot Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 St Croix Legend Tournament $149.99 Sportsman Warehouse by my house. They have a couple left without the split grips. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 4, 2009 Super User Posted May 4, 2009 St. Croix Avid... "All-around" with the emphasis on soft plastics and jigs: AVC70MHF "All-around" with the emphasis on treble hook lures: AVC66MF. Another to consider, AVC68MXF. 8-) Quote

Super User Chris at Tech Posted May 4, 2009 Super User Posted May 4, 2009 What are you planning to throw with this rod? Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted May 4, 2009 Super User Posted May 4, 2009 Going to be used for crankbaits Avid AVC70MM. This rod loads up for some of the longest casts you will ever make. You will like everything about this rod for light and medium weight crankbaits. Although I use a different set-up for deep divers, this rod will handle them, too. 8-) Quote
Super User flechero Posted May 4, 2009 Super User Posted May 4, 2009 Going to be used for crankbaits Then I wouldn't worry with "the most sensitive" rod.... haven't seen a rod yet that wasn't sensitive enough for cranking- glass rods included. If you really want this for cranking then look at moderate and mod-fast actions. RW, This is a classic case of preference.... I had the (2C70MHM) MH mod St. Croix and i felt like it was too light for any big cranks. My current 7' H, mod-fast will handle small, light cranks better for me than my 7' MH, mod handled the big stuff. So for me the H, mod-fast was the better choice for all cranking. (and lipless baits) Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted May 4, 2009 Super User Posted May 4, 2009 6'10'' MH Carrot Stix Gold Quote
matthewbas Posted May 4, 2009 Author Posted May 4, 2009 It's going to be a river rod but in not that deep of water Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 4, 2009 Super User Posted May 4, 2009 flechero, If a fellow is going to fish big, deep diving lures on a regular basis, he needs another rod & reel combination. For me that's a Lamiglas SR704R/ CTE200GT. However, the AVC70MM will work for occasional heavy lifting. 8-) Quote
Super User flechero Posted May 4, 2009 Super User Posted May 4, 2009 For me that's a LamiglasSR704R/ CTE200GT. that's the "OTHER" orange rod, right? ...lol I agree with you (either of our set ups will pull double duty just fine) but was emphasizing the personal preference part of it. Quote
