Im a righty. but for some reason i cannot crank a spinning or baitcasting reel righty and it becomes frustrating because some reel companies dont make left handed models. does anyone else seem to have this predicament?

Most people hold their rod in their dominant hand. This means that left-handed fisherman often crank with there right hand and vice versa. The exception to this is that a lot of fishermen where brought up cranking with there right hand when there weren't any left-hand cranking reels.

I'm in the same boat as you.  I'm right handed, cast right handed and control the fish right handed, but crank with my left hand.  All my reels (spinning or B/C) are lefty.  That's what I was use to fishing when I was a kids and still to this day.  I hate casting with my right and then having to switch hands just to reel it back in, then back to my right to cast and back (wow, this is going on and on  B)

Yes, I'm a righty and crank with my left. I tried crankin with my right and it seems that I don't have the control that I'd like.

I almost didn't get into Baitcasting because I couldn't stand cranking with my right hand. Fortunately there are enough good LH retrieve options available to meet my needs. B)

I cast right handed and reel left handed. I feel your pain, there is a couple reels out there I would like, but there just not made in a lefty.

yeh, I want to get a Patriach but it doesn't come in left hand!!!!!!!!

agreed. >B)

Pflueger's not getting my business now, but Abu Garcia, Shimano & Quantum have.  Daiwas could get some of my $$ as well. B)

Same here as far as right handed and left reelin'. Like stated before, Just seems awkward to switch back and forth. Saves time and you are ready for whenever that fish is ready. The reason I started is for flippin' and pitchin'. Now everything gets done this way.

What reel are you looking for that doesnt have a lefty?  I have no trouble finding lefty reels anymore - back in the 90's it was tough though

Shimano Chronarch D and Curado E in 5.0:1 ratio for cranking

It's terrible how hard it is to find a decent cranking reel. And now with 7:1 ratios its all you can find in left hand. Its an unfair playing field.

I agree completely. I just found a G. Loomis GLX Crankbait rod for a great price and have been working on trying to get a good lefty cranking reel. I've never been a fan of daiwa but their Zillion crazy cranker has a lefty retrieve. other than that, all of the shimano reels, (especially the new chronarch which i wanted so badly) seem to only have high speed ratios on lefty reel. life is tough, B)

I am looking for a cranking reel low gear ratio in LH. I can't find any. (other than the winch)

Here you go.

A little out of my price range. Thanks though. I have been eyeing that up for a little while now.

If at all possible save up and get the Zillion Crazy Cranker.  I got mine last month and it is incredible.

Daiwa also makes most all their reels in left hand retrieve.  I don't know why all y'all are saying you can't find anything but highspeed 7.0:1 reels.

Zillion  TDZLN100HLA    6.3 : 1

TD VIENTO L    6.3 : 1

TD SOL L    5.8 : 1

I agree that it is hard to find anything but a 7:1 in a lefty. This is of course if you want to stick with Shimano. I thought about the Chronarch DPV, but I just don't think I could get used to a heavier reel after using a 51Mg and sol for awhile. It looks like you would have to go with the CC unless Shimano decides to come out with a Chronarch D5 or Curado E5.

I decided that I didn't want to spend the money for a CC and couldn't wait for Shimano so I went with a Revo S. I will probably have to crank slowly, but I think it will do for $75. And, I can always use it on a frog rod once I have the $ or if Shimano comes out with a low gear lefty. Right now I have to give the nod to Daiwa for giving us lefties the most options.
