Left handed cranking reel

Looking to slow my cranking down a little.  I currently crank with 6.3 and 7:1 baitcasting reels.  What do you recommend for me in a left handed model (I noticed shimano doesnt make their 5.x:1 reel left handed and neither do a lot of companies...WHICH REALLY ANGERS ME!)

Your thoughts?  I was looking for something in the 5.x to 1 give or take a little

I was also looking for a slow left handed reel, they are rare which is frustrating. I did find the Zillion Crazy Cranker it was just out of my price range

BPS had some extremes on clearance for about $40!  Can't recall if any of them were left hand or not.  Good luck!

Shimano Chronarch BPV. It is a great reel at the sale price and you can't beat it for cranking and yes it comes in lefty.

If you have the money or shop around for used reels, the calcutta TE 201 is fantastic. This is my go to reel for moving baits w/ resistance. I feel no fatigue in terms of reeling because the gears are so big. I know it weights a little more then some LP reels but once you try it you'll be hooked. Lets just say I have a calais and this CTE. If I only had one choice I'd keep the CTE. The calcutta seems to be just as smooth if not smoother then the calais even though it doesn't have as much bearings.

I am not sure about the regular calcutta B. They dont have the HEG. I would not get it. I'd rather get a daiwa luna or a cardiff. I dont think the regular calcuttas are worth the money.

It isn't ratio but inches per turn, that said just reel slower or faster, solves the problem without spending a thing. My retrieve speed always varies , even on the same cast. I never bothered to look what the ratio is on any of my reels.

If you don't mind a round reel, the Shimano Cardiff has a 5.x:1 ratio. I have a 301A that I use when I target salmon, but I have used it for cranking in the off season and it just  "feels" easier and better with the lesser IPT. It also use the centrifugal brakes many Shimano casting reel users are familiar with and it doesn't cost an arm and leg. The reel is about $100.00 give or take and even has the Dartanium drag. Depending on the size you choose, it would probably make a a good swim bait reel.

The CTE200GT and CTE201GT are precision reels. Strong, smooth,

silent and reliant.  They are built like tanks and with basic maintenance,

they will last a lifetime.

I have two CTE200GT. One is dedicated to a Lamiglas SR705 for

deep crank baits and other big treble hook lures. The other is saddled

to a G. Loomis GLX MBR844C used predominately for big soft plastics

and as my striper rig.

You can probably still find a Curado D 201 with a 5:1.1 gear ratio on Ebay for a fair price.  I picked one up brand new a few months ago for about $120.

Do yourself a favor and go ahead and drop the extra coin on a Zillion Crazy Cranker you will never ever regret it.

The Zillion may be my next reel....but I hate to get a reel that expensive in such a one dimensional speed (5:1).  If i'm gonna drop that kind of 'cheddar' on that nice of a reel, I want to be able to use it for multiple application (6.3:1 probably).  However, I do loooooooove to crank so maybe I will sleep on it....probably won't buy another til next year so I may have more options by then anyhow!  Thanks.

I use two Sol (right handed) reels for all my cranking, and can whole heartedly recommend them for cranking, left or right.  5.8:1 feels just right to me.  I've tried the low speed Zillion, and its too low speed for me.

It's worse than you think the Zillion is 4.9:1 not 5.1

I been using a Revo Winch in left hand retrieve for a year now and have absolutely no complaints what so ever about it.
