Sfritr Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I am currently looking to purchase a carrot stix rod. I have heard mixed reviews. Some have said that they broke which I found out was a production mistake, spined incorrectly. It was between these or the Shimano although I am not a big fan of the foam handle on the shimano. Any thoughts? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 30, 2009 Super User Posted April 30, 2009 You will continue to get mixed reviews. Most guys love them, others don't. http://www.tackledirect.com/e21-fishing-rods.html Quote
daviscw Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I have the 6'9" MH and 6'9" Parabolic in the LTX series. No issues here. Wouldn't trade them for the world. Other than those lame BPS online reviews, I've never heard anything bad out of them. Quote
Super User Tin Posted April 30, 2009 Super User Posted April 30, 2009 Most guys love them. :-? : Quote
ChazfromVA Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 i love mine!!! i have 6 of them and wouldn't trade them for anything! Quote
Hitch Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I didnt like the foam on the stix and they were not as light to me as others. Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 If you want a Carrot Stix save some money and put your reel on a golf club! That's pretty much what it will feel like on the actual rod. ;D Quote

Sfritr Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 I've got a nice set of Pings Maybe it'll help my game Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted May 1, 2009 Super User Posted May 1, 2009 I didnt like the foam on the stix and they were not as light to me as others. Check the weight on the carrots, they are actually very much in the running for being lighter rods. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted May 1, 2009 Super User Posted May 1, 2009 According to my measurements, the Carrot Stix LTX is most likely the lightest rod on the market. That said, I've not weighed a Loomis GLX. But using the old five-finger measuring method, the LTX is as light (if not lighter) than the GLX. Quote
FunnyFish Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I have a 7' MH spinning LTX and love it. I use it for everything. Plus customer service for E21 is amazing. Do your self a favor and try to feel one in your hand at your local store if they have them. My two friends don't like the grips. I love it though. Quote
lubina Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I have fish mine HEAVILY for over a year and still like new....love also they are cork free Quote
Grandpa Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Have had 2 of the baitcasters that I just love and earlier this spring got a spinning/drop shot rod. Love it as well and while I have always been a big fan of cork grips, the grips on the carrot have changed my mind. Quote
Bull Hurley Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I didnt like the foam on the stix and they were not as light to me as others. I can't say anything about you not liking the foam since that is all personal preference, but to say they aren't as light as other rods that is just assinine and looking for something negative. Next time try comparing the same rod and not a XH 7'9" to a 6'6" M. Quote

But your retort might have been a little more polite. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 1, 2009 Super User Posted May 1, 2009 Thanks firefighter15, I missed this one. Pinky, I know you're new, but this is a "friendly" Forum. I hope you can be a little less aggressive in future posts. However, I do agree with you...Comparing rod weights should be apples and apples, not apples and oranges (pun intended). -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator Quote

I don't have a Dobyn's to compare, but I can't imagine I would like it (or any Loomis) any better than my Kistler. :-X Not trying to be overly aggressive but I do get a little overexagerated when someone makes a statement off of feeling rather than fact. Big Tom Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 If I get to go Ricky, what do you mean, if? We are going! Pinky, those weights are amazing!!! I NEED a Carrot Stix! Quote

bassinCPA Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 How much of the weight difference between the Carrot and Kistler, or any other rod for that matter, is attributable to handle or lack therof for the Carrot Stix? Just curious to know the comparable weights of the raw blanks for each. Quote
