bass wrangler569 Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 A few days ago I received my two new curado 201E7s that ordered on ebay ($148.50 each w/ free shipping). Before this I had fished primarily with quantums, although I have tried many other brands. I have several of the blue tour edition baitcasters and spinnig reels and I always thought they were awesome. Since being a member here, I have always thought that the "Shimano is the best" attitude was a load of crap, but since these two reels landed at my doorstep, I have seen the light. The difference between the curados and my tour edtions is unbelievable. The only way I can describe the curado is smooth and solid. Everything about it is perfect. You can just look at the curado and tell that it is built much more soldily than the tour edition. I have officially been converted. From now on, all my reel purchases will be shimanos. Quote

old bassman Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Since you are so positive about Shimano ( I have a curado 201 that is great) how about selling those blue tour reels. Let me know, I like them also. I am not a complete Shimano convert, my tour's are great and durable. Quote

If you want some more blue tours, you should check ebay. I've bought several there for $115-120 with free shipping and I know there's some around that price range for sale on ebay right now. Quote

Matt 825 Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 When I buy a new Shimano reel I know I wont need to buy another one to replace it ever. They are by far the best reels out there!!!! Quote
coffee Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I just received a Shimano Calcutta 50 TE GT and find it to be a great little reel, very well made and smooth. I can see picking up a few more Shimanos in the future (the company also makes some of the best cycling components on the planet). I also have some abu garcias and they are also good reels, so I guess its a toss up for me which I like best. Quote
Super User South FLA Posted May 2, 2009 Super User Posted May 2, 2009 Welcome to the Shimano club! Don't anyone fool you, if they have not fished competitor's reels side by side with the same category Shimano over at least a year of hard fishing and they say this Quantum, Ardent, Pflueger, Bass Pro Shops, Abu Garcia, US Reel, etc. is better or equal to Shimano, than they are either sponsored, had an outlier Shimano, or are blinded by ***! The only thing that equal or BEAT Shimano's are Daiwa in some respects. Also, I would put some Japanese domestic market Abu's in the mix, but overall Abu's are third fiddle to Shimano and Daiwa. Just my humble opinion thou! Quote
