Sharkbite Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 Hey guys I was out the past 2 days. I don't know if I did something to the reel or what. This is the first time using it since I've picked it up. I got it used too. I was out today got a bite and missed the set. I asked myself did I forget to turn the drag on? No I didn't! It was on but there was no drag. I then tightened it as far as possible and I can I could still pull the line out with my hand with little force. What is wrong with it? What can I do? Quote
Super User burleytog Posted April 18, 2009 Super User Posted April 18, 2009 Don't worry, just send it to Pure Fishing and they'll send you a new reel. :-X Quote
Sharkbite Posted April 18, 2009 Author Posted April 18, 2009 O really? It's still under warrenty? I didn't know that. Do you have there mailing info? Thanks Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted April 18, 2009 Super User Posted April 18, 2009 Is this a new reel?..........if so take it back to the store where you purchased it for an exchange. I'm not sure I would send a $ 39 reel in, I would take the opportunity to upgrade. If you still want to send it in, send me a pm and I will give you the link for the repair form. I don't remember if a spare spool is supplied when you bought the reel, if so put it on and save the spool with your line on it, or in the comment section of the repair form ask for your line back. Most likely they will send a new reel. Quote

Super User Wayne P. Posted April 18, 2009 Super User Posted April 18, 2009 Did you put braid on it without backing or tape on the spool? Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted April 18, 2009 Super User Posted April 18, 2009 ia this a baitcaster?if it is you either have braid with no tape or backing or somebody got oil on the drag washers or they put it together wrong.the first 2 are easy.if there is oil on the drag just tighten it down all the way and stop the spool with your thumb and reel against it.this takes a while but squezzes the oil off the washers and restores drag pressure. Sharkbite Posted April 19, 2009 Author Posted April 19, 2009 thanx guys, this is a used BC reel with mono. I have a few Trions now and not sure which I oiled or someone else has. I'm not sure what you want to do with the drag dude it sounds like you want me too hold the reel in place and crank it while in full drag. Is this right? Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted April 19, 2009 Super User Posted April 19, 2009 You might want to get hold of a schematic of the reel to see if: It's assembled correctly and The drag stack is assembled correctly Quote
Sharkbite Posted April 19, 2009 Author Posted April 19, 2009 Well I searched but couldn't find the schamatics for it. I looked at the reel and I am woundering which way the washer sit on the shaft were the handel connects at. The washers are slightly bent. Which way does the bend go? Quote

Sharkbite Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 Hey guys I've tried putting the drag fully on and cranking the reel while the spool is in place. Nothing! I''ve also flipped the washers around and that didn't help either. I guess I have to get them repaired. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted April 23, 2009 Super User Posted April 23, 2009 Just another thought.... 8-) If the reel was stored with the drags cranked down tight then I would be looking into new drag pads for the reel. They would have compressed to the point of not having any when the reel is fished and they first break lose... Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!! Quote
Sharkbite Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 No I always take my drag off. How much do you charge to fix the reels? Quote
