I am heading to Bass Pro tomorrow and would like to get a new spinning rod and reel for mostly throwing finesse plastics (Senkos, tubes, shaky heads etc.). I would like to stay around $200. Any suggestions? Thanks

I put most your money toward the rod, you can get an excellent spinning reel in the 50-70 dollar range, for instance, the pflueger president. good choices for the rod could be: Kistler Magnesium, E21 carrot stick, Shimano Crucial or even the Johnny Morris signature series, just see what feels the best for you. Good luck.

Pflueger president, either 30 or 35 series, and a St. Croix Avid, depending on how tall you are and how far you want to chuck stuff, 6'6" or 7".  That's what I would go with.

I use St. Croix Avids mixed with Pflueger presidents for crappie, bluegill, redear, white bass, and smallies with excellent results and haven't yet had one go down.  I use 30 series reels on 7' ul and lights and a medium power and can feel crappies fart from 10 yards away.  Its a decent setup for 200 bucks.
