my fiance finally wants her own spinning rig ever since she saw the pink trion combo in the BPS catalog. does anyone else put out stuff for the lady anglers besides shakespeare/pflueger?

All of the 'girly' combos out there were just too cheesy for me, so I built one for a past girlfriend, too bad she kicked me to the curb before I had a chance to give it to her. :;)

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this rod and reel combo will go to benefit the early detection of breast cancer.

understandable...If she likes it then pick one up for her.  Pflueger makes quality spinning tackle, have never used a trion but I have heard good things.  Plus part of it goes for a cause, and that's even better.

I have the trion 20 ul with 4# mono, haven't respooled in 2 years and no line twist, just dislike the rosewood handle it's too slippery.  I apply few dabs of rubber cement for a better grip, the cement wears off in time so no damage done.

x2 The Trion is about as bulletproof as a reel can be. I have the 25 size on a UL with 4# mono. Been spooled by an 8# carp, caught literally hundreds of fish over the two years I've owned it. What's line twist ? ;D Seriously, this is one bad _ss little reel.

Snookalot, I agree 100% about the handle. It's the ONLY thing I would change if I could.

As for the Pflueger rods, never owned one, but I imagine they wouldn't be that horrible......

I also had the trion 35 size but on a 2 piece rod so I gave it to my son in law when he was down here, only negative THE ROSEWOOD HANDLE.  The newer president xt has done away with the rosewood handle. I can't think of anything better for 39.95 than the trion.

TW sells stuff under the Fisher Girl name: http://www.***.com/searchresults.html?search=products&searchtext=fisher+girl

Tackle manufacturers could really be cleaning up with the pink rod/reel market. I personally know of several women alone who would want to buy a pink combo simply because of the color, even if the rod/reel was a complete piece of crap (not saying that Fisher Girl is crap, just generalizing here). Cheap a^% components, and a big mark-up....lots of money to be made here.

The main thing about fishing equipment for women is the rod handle size and overall weight. Women usually have smaller hands than men and a smaller handle will make their fishing experience more enjoyable.

i think she'll be happy concidering she doesnt even fish much at all. its more of a 'i want my own just in case i decide to go out with you' type deal.

I got the pflueger lady trion for the wife.  I think it an awesome spinning setup and (don't tell anybody :-X) sometimes use it when she isn't looking.

She really loves her Quantum Accurist.
