I am currently in the market for some topwater line.  The topwaters I am going to be using are: poppers, buzzbaits, frogs, and zara spooks.

What do you guys reccomend for line poundage?  Also do you reccomend braid or monofilament line?

Thanks for the help in advance!

17# Mono, floats alot, helps get the buzzbaits up faster and allows the spooks to float right

Last year I used 14lbs mono based on some local BPS employee suggestions.  This year I have been trying Yo-Zuri Hybrid in 12lbs test with very good success.

Later, ;)

For me it would really depend on where you are fishing.  Down here I'll use something like a 30 lb Power Pro braid to help cutting through the lilly pads once you get hooked up.  But when I'm on my home lake I'll just use something small like a 10 lb Trilene mono because I don't have much stuff that will abrade my line.

I use 12# Big Game. Probably because I have a spool of the stuff and can't buy more til the spool is gone. Sorta like a clean your plate before you get more ;D  When I buy again, I plan on 14# Mono.
