What makes a reel a good reel for throwin light lures?

Hey fellas on another post comparing the mg to the curado a lot of the guys were saying that the mg excelled more in throwing light lures than the curado. i just ordered a curado in the mail and im not sure im havin buyers remorse. but my question is Why is the mg better at throwing light lures and what makes a good reel a light thrower ?

Which mg are you refering to- the 50MG?

If so, that reel has a very light weight spool and minimal line capacity.  All of that helps when casting lighter lures.  However, I think the a very important factor in casting lighter lures is the line and rod being used.  I have used the new 200 Citica E to cast some very light lures.  I'm talking 1/8oz lures that most folks would say that you can't cast with the Citica E.  However, I am using a medium powered rod and 10lb line.

It 's a combination of three factors:

1.- In the reel: light spool, shallow spool design and freely rotation spool support bearings.

2.- The line: less diameter line ( which doesn 't necessarily mean you gotta fish with hairthin like line )

3.- The rod: limber rods ( less power ) that can load up with lighter baits.

The Chronarch Mg has a lighter spool ( with lots of holes ) with shallow spool ( don 't hold much line ) and more freely rotating spool supporting bearings ( ARBs, not because they are corrosion resitant, it 's because of the bearing design ).

Nobody is saying you can 't cast light lures with other reels, you can, but not with the ease and the performance the Chronarch Mg can, if it serves you as an example, I can cast a 1/16 th oz bait with a Curado 200B with 10 lbs test on a GLoomis CR721 but for starters I won 't even be close to the distance I can achieve with the Chronarch Mg, needles to say that you gotta be really good at fine tunnning the braking and tension plus a very well trained thumb.

The Curado actually casts light baits well. It's just that the Chronarch does it with less effort and easily because of what Raul described. I am an owner of the BSF (old greenie) and a 101 and 201D. I can toss without issue even 1/8 oz lures. Based on that I would expect that the E would be even better or at least on par with its predecessors. The curado is not a slouch in the right hands so I don't expect you will experience buyer's remorse.
