I'm looking for a high speed reel and the Pflueger Summit has caught my eye. Anybody have any experience with this reel. It has a Revo profile which I was given one at Christmas. All pros and cons are welcome. Thanks.

i own nothing but pflueger reels but not the summit.it is one fine reel regardless.if you really want a fine reel save up for a patriarch narrow spool.the patriarch is built on the same frame as the revo while the summit is not.the new president is also built on the same frame as the revo.

I own one and so far I like it. It almost seems a little small but it probably is not. It is very light, casts very well and is smooth. I chaven't owned it all that long ( mid to late last season) . I've caught quite a few fish on it and no problems. I only paid $139 for mine so if in that price range it is a fine reel for the buck. I think they are discontinuing them so you should be able to get a deal on a brand new one. I own several Pfluegers and love em all.

Take it for what its worth just my .02

I've got 2 Summits which I only got to use towards the end of last season.  I have zero complaints.  Very lightweight, dual braking, nice spool size in the LP version.  Keep your eye on Ebay,  you can regularly find them for around $100-110 NIB.

I use the trion and I love it.  It is built tough.  I use wide spools I keep better control and acuracy with them.

I was looking into getting one for spinnerbaits after I got my Patriarchs but ended up with a Supreme.  It seems to be a good reel, has the dual braking I believe and I reel like the frame and profile.  I do all of my Pflueger buying from ebay...with the exception of my President...and couldn't find a good deal at the time.  What little were on there were almost full price and came by the supreme and picked it up for $65 NIB so I'm not that disappointed.  If you are looking to buy one full price I would search ebay for a deal on a Patriarch either spool size...The WLP only looks wide compared to the LP which is quiet narrow and they can be had for a little less than the LP most of the time.

I have a Summit I've been using since last year. It's the narrow spool version. I've accidently caught a few good sized muskies on it and it handled them no problem. Palms well, casts great. It's a nice little reel.

Thanks for all the replies. The one on ebay for $119 is the one that caught my eye. I swung by BPS today after work to see if they had one I could handle and they didn't. I played with the Patriarch, the Curado 200E7, and the BPS Pro Qualifier. All nice reels but I guess I have it in my head that I want to see what a Summit feels like. Anyway I'm in no hurry and still thinkin'...

That's who I bought my Patriarch from and it's perfect. No problems at all.

Hey just noticed my reel was a Supreme not a Summit my mistake

sorry about that

I picked up 3 Supremes lately and tried them last weekend for the first time.  Wow!  Incredible casters.  Nice reels.

Are they the new Supremes that look kinda like a Patriarch with a different handle and less "bling"?

If so, how do you like them? I just picked up a new rod for soft plastics, so I'm shopping around for a new reel to put on it. I love my Patriarch, but the new Supreme is looking good for a little less $$$...

EDIT: Oops! It's the President I've been eye-ballin', not the Supreme. Sorry.

I have several of the Pflueger Summits and I have never had any negative experiences at all (not even minor ones). My primary use for the Summit is as my main crankbait reel. It really fits nicely in my hand. You can get great casting distance and a super smooth retrieve without dropping major coin on a reel.

I have bought off of Poor Fish several times.  I have had nothing but good experiences with them.

Sorry about your experience.
