Hey fellas im in a bait monkey pickel. I need to get ANOTHER new baitcaster. i just bought a shimano citica 201e 6.3.1. i use it on a bionic blade. decided its not the best rod for my jigs and worms above 3/8oz. its rated for much higher but the rod tip is too soft. so i need a stiffer rod and a new bait caster. i was thinking of another shimano. lookin at around 150 bucks for a reel and i would like a 7.0.1 ratio for jigs and worms and possibly spinnerbaits. these are my setups so far and then some ideas

Bps extreme 66M- Okuma 40 8lbtest pline flouroclear-jerkbaits, small jigs, senkos.

Bps Bionic blade 7MH-Shimano Citica 6.3.1 12lb yozuri ultrasoft- Cranks, spinnerbaits

Insert New Setup here(_______________) :)

Quantum Catalyst PT Cast 101 "Burner

Shimano curado 201e7 7.0.1

any others and by the way throw a rod in their if you want for around 140 too my bady is comming up :)

You can get a Curado 200e with a 7.0.1 ratio on ebay for around 150.

For a rod get a Falcon Lowrider XG for 140. The 7ft H or 6'10'' H will be good for jigs/worms/frogs/spinnerbaits.

He stated that he wanted a faster gear ratio.

7.0:1 gear ratio retrieves 30 of line per crank

6.3:1 gear ratio retrieves 27 of line per crank

Is 3 of line retrieval worth $60?

You're not exactly using the best of judgment just looking at your current list of rods and reels.

The reel is merely a casting and cranking device.  You should be buying better quality rods and putting less expensive reels on them.  Example, you can find Revo S reels for around $100 new on ebay.  Match that with an All Star Platinum, Falcon Cara, St. Croix Avid, a lower priced Loomis, Quantum PT or maybe a carrot stick.  Higher priced reels won't help you catch you more fish,  higher priced rods will.

True, but IMO better reels will be more user friendly.

Your analysis is about 98% accurate.  The other 2% being the chance of reel mechanical failure.  If that occurs when you're fighting a fish, all bets are off.

Not all $100.00 reels are created equal.  The Revo S, however, is probably the reliable.

This isn't the first time you have made this or a similar statement.  Can you provide a link to support the accuracy of your claim?

Thanks
