Good all around reel

i'm looking for a good all around reel to go on my 6'9" mh/f zillion. i'll be fishing mostly lipless cranks and spinnerbaits but might tie a popper or some other topwater on sometimes. i'd like to stay between $100-$150.

Shimano Citica or Curado come to mind. If you like Diawa, look for a used Fuego or Sol (if you want a lower gear ratio and small reel). If you are willing to spend a little more, look for a used Shimano Chronarch 50Mg. If you like a left handed reel then you can pick one up from *** for $186 new! Great reel, but I do not think you could go wrong with any of the others.

A Cabela's Prodigy (made by Daiwa and basically is the TD-A 150H with an extra bearing and swept handle) is very hard to beat at $100.  I am very happy with mine and would not hesitate to buy another if I needed another reel.

Revo SX and Daiwa TD-A HSTA153 (I have the TD-A HST153) are slightly better and another good choice, although slightly out of your price range at $170.

I think the Prodigy is a lot of reel for $100 and I expect mine will keep on ticking for years to come.  It got fished hard last year and never gave me a lick of trouble.

i thought about saving a couple more dollars and getting another revo sx. i've been watching the flea market hoping to find one for a good price. what about the daiwa black widow II? the tackletour review was positive i'm just looking for a little more feedback.

If your ok with spinning reels then hands down i would say shimano saros, you can go with higher shimano models but this would be out of the price range specified.  (i own a saros 3000 and use it for both fresh and inshore salt......its been amazing to say the least).

the zillion is only offered as a casting model. plus i think you cause a rift in the space-time continuum when you pair a daiwa with a shimano!  ;D :

I would go with either a Shimano Citica or Garcia Revo S, they are both in your price range and are both excellent products.

I agree with you on the Prodigy and have one myself and even better when you can catch them on sale for around $80. It's a great reel.
