I agree with South FLA about both lines. I'm anticipating the multi-colored version of the Samauri on the smaller spools.

Power Pro and Suffix are too rough textured for my taste.

Edited: on the Daiwa site, the multi-colored version of the Samauri is called Saltiga and it has two versions-Boat and Surf

Power Pro for sure...I tried stealth and almost gave up on braid because of it-(frays,breaks,loses color, digs into spool...etc)... but that was a few years ago so maybe its better now

I think im gonna buy a spool of power pro and a spool of spiderwire camo braid, a couple people I know like it! I would like to try the diawa samuri, but whoa its expensive!

i also use powerpro. works awesome for me! i am wanting to try high-seas grand slam. they have some very interesting claims which are almost identical to daiwa samurai but way cheaper! and they are an american company producing products in america!

I'm guessing that since Daiwa Samurai and the New Fireline Braid has the 8 braid weave, that more companies will be adopting that system and doing away with the 4 weave. The cost of that process will go down as the usage increases.

When Spiderwire was first on the market, the cost was similar to the present Samurai.

Edited: I just checked the Hi Seas site and their Grand Slam Braid is not comparable to the Samuari. The 30# is just 6 strands and a larger 8# mono equivalent diameter.

I generally use PowerPro, but I have Spiderwire Stealth on two reels and have had no problems.

I'm a fan of Spider wire, used power pro and fireline also. I liked the power pro but i bought the wrong color (red- what was I thinking). Fireline didn't work well with how I like to fish - hard casting and knots didn't hold well

Suffix or Power Pro.

I don't really care for Spider Wire.  :)

I use Suffix but haven't really tried anything else.  Haven't had a reason to really.  I hear really good things about the Diawa braid but it is a little expensive.

Powerpro, hands down. Strong, abrasion resistant, no memory, great feel.

Who can give a review of Power Pro vs Suffix vs the New Fireline Braid.  Would like to hear from people that have used all 3, pros and cons of each.

Getting ready to restring my reels for the year.  I currently have only used Power Pro.

Thanks, :)

I've been using nothing but braided line for about 15 years now. I've probably used about 8 different kinds, and the worst one was better than the best mono I've ever used ;-)

I started using TUF-Line about 6 years ago, and 2 or 3 years later, I was still using it, and loving it, so I started bugging them for a sponsorship. Geez, for the longest time, I thought they were ignoring me, but I had decided I'd just pay for it if I had too. Then one day they surprised me with a nice letter :-)

Anyway, I just really can't see how any company could make a line which performed any better than my TUF-Line. This stuff just NEVER fails. I replace it once or twice a year "just because" I've got about (litterally) 10 miles of it at the house..... but it could probably be used 3X's as long, and still never fail.

Even with my surplus, I still use my line for about 10 to 15 trips, then top off what I've used from retying and such, then wind it on to a coffee can.... then back onto another, then back onto the reel, to reverse it, so that the line that has been down against my spool, and which is still like new, is now on the outside.

This trick effectively doubles the lifespan / usage of your braided line. Won't work with mono though, as the line underneath will be completely crinkled and worthless.

Peace,

Fish

PS, To be specific, I usually use TUF-Line XP, in 10, 30, or 50lb.....

WOW...polls still open.  I personally like spiderwire over power pro (only 2 I've ever used).  I want to give Momoi Diamond Braid a try (yeah, it's offshore, but hey, you never no)  :-?

I have already tried Fire Line, jury is still out at the moment.

Adclem "Firedline" is not braid. It's fused. Word from factory insiders is that the only reason fused line was ever created, is that its much cheaper to produce that real braided lines. Yes, it's a little thinner than mono, and zero stretch, like braid also. But it is stiffer, and crinkly, with the consistency of dental floss.

Firedline is the weirdest, funkiest line I've ever tried. Can't imagine how anybody could like that garbage.

Powerpro {I'm tempted to use that internet word Meh.... but that is SO gay :-) ....if I were ever talking to somebody and they used the word Meh, I'd think they were choking on something  ;D

Oh but anyway, I used Power Pro once. Must have got a bad spool, as it broke off on snags much easier than I felt it should. The Spiderwire I used for a few years before that was much better, but too freaking expensive.

TUF-Line XP is about the same price as Power Pro, but better IMPO.

Peace,

Fish

Fish Chris, I am referring to the new Fire Line Braid fishing line, not the fused line.
