birdy Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Reccomendations wanted for spinning reels, I have two 7 foot rods, medium and medium light. Planning on lake fishing with a canoe and a jon boat this spring, bass obviously being the main objective. Any advice would be welcome. Quote
bigfruits Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 depending on your budget, id go with the following in 2500 size shimano sahara, shimano saros, daiwa tierra, shimano stradic or daiwa fuego Quote
LAO162 Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 depending on your budget, id go with the following in 2500 sizeshimano sahara, shimano saros, daiwa tierra, shimano stradic or daiwa fuego X2 Daiwa's Exceler is also a great performer at <$70. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted April 4, 2009 Super User Posted April 4, 2009 Consider the Pflueger Trion, President or Supreme. I own the Trion and the Supreme, both outstanding reels. Do a Google search for reviews, there's a lot of them out there, almost all positive. Quote
birdy Posted April 5, 2009 Author Posted April 5, 2009 Thanks, I will research all, thanks for the help. Quote
MitchIsFishin Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Oh, what the heck, my list, in order of preference: Abu Garcia Cardinal 502/503 ALBI Shimano Sahara 2500 Daiwa Exceler 2500 And there you go. Quote
aarogb Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I really like anything Quantum but Shimano's and Diawa's are not bad either. Quote
mrlitetackle Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I tried the daiwa tierra, it was nice but i think i had a defective one (it was smooth but when there was weight on the line ie: fish or lure it made clicking noises). I then went with a shimano saros 3000, absolutely love it by the way. Dont know your price range but the saros has my vote hands down. Quote
hawgchaser Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Any Shimano from Sahara and up. Cardinal 500, 700, 800 Pflueger president or supreme Quote
crappiekid24 Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I really like Daiwa spinning reels. The Exceler is hard to beat for the price. Other then that get a Tierra or an Advantage. Quote
guitarkid Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Any Shimano from Sahara and up.Cardinal 500, 700, 800 Pflueger president or supreme I have to agree, the cardinals are pretty solid reels, I have a Pfluger Medalist now, I really like it, but it is pretty heavy, so I would have to recomend the Cardinal unless you really want a good forearm workout. -gk Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted April 6, 2009 Super User Posted April 6, 2009 pflueger supreme is the best value for the $ !!! Quote
MarauderYak Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 My personal vote for best bang for the buck is the BPS Pro Qualifier. Next would be the Pflueger President, and then the Shimano Symetre. Quote
Hooked_On_Bass Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 depending on your budget, id go with the following in 2500 sizeshimano sahara, shimano saros, daiwa tierra, shimano stradic or daiwa fuego Yup. Both have been excellent for me. Quote
adclem Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Shimano Symetre or Saros in the 2500 size. Later, Quote
fivesixone Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 What size do you guys like for the Pflueger Supreme? Quote
birdy Posted April 7, 2009 Author Posted April 7, 2009 WOW! Thanks for the advice, it is greatly appreciated. Glad I joined the Forum. Thanks again. Quote
SWMIBASSER Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 What size do you guys like for the Pflueger Supreme? I prefer the 8030 for 6'6 rods....or lighter rods.....I have an 8030 on my Loomis SHR 821. 8030 on Rogue 6'6 M I'd like to get the Loomis 7 4" Bronzeback, and for that rod I would go with 8035. You don't need a big reel, and to me, the smaller reels feel better in use. Quote
fivesixone Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Thanks! I ended up getting the 8035 but if it turns out that it feels too big I'm sure I can exchange it. Quote
