Big article about those things in bassmaster magazine a few months ago. They say late spring during a mayfly hatch. I have'nt yet seen a mayfly as big as these cranks so I have not yet tried it. But hey, if it's in bassmaster magazine there might be something there. Maybe I'll try one this coming spring. :D

With all the other types of forage available, and given the size of a mayfly, I can't understand why a mature bass would exert the energy needed to feed on the little guys. To answer your question, if both a bass and a bream took an interest in the same mayfly, my money is on the bass!!

bluegills target the smaller stuff...mayflies, ants, beetles, juvinile hoppers, damsel flies.

bass get the big stuff...dragonflies, locusts, adult hoppers. their favorite summertime topwater snak is a dragonfly...thats coming from a fly fisherman :D

I have not had any success with these "bug" imitations.

I guess I like the regular old crankbaits that are out there.

May give them another chance this spring.

What's that weird japanese crankbait that someone showed on a thread like a month ago, it has sort-of a spinnerbait skirt in the middle of it?

all of those are made by the same company and they are just plain stupid looking.....not worth the $40 they cost!!! :D

i could make that for half of that probably. and i thought lucky craft jerk baits were expensive.
