BlakeMolone Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Looking for a cheap senko spinning reel and was wondering if there were many spinning reels that have a 7:1 gear ratio? Quote
uicdent11 Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I do not think they make a 7:1 spinning reel. If they do, I have never seen one. One thing to keep in mind is line retrieval per crank aka inches per turn. A 1000 size shimano will take up just about as much line per crank than a 7:1 baitcaster. (28"). Check fish.shimano.com for all the specifications on each reel and you can compare inches per turn of a spinning reel and baitcaster. Also, just one step up to a 2500 series increases the line pick up to roughly 34" per crank. I hope this helps. Quote
adclem Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Yeah my Symetre 2500 spinning reel is a 6.2:1 and takes up 35 inches per crank where my Curado is a 7.0:1 and takes up 30 inches per crank. Later, Quote

Never failed me and still running strong, smooth, and silent. Quote
