Super User Hooligan Posted January 9, 2012 Super User Posted January 9, 2012 Without a doubt my favorite reel is the one I happen to be holding on the lake at any given time. Now in terms of cool factor, I'd have to say my favorite is my Zonda 10L. Quote

Super User deep Posted January 9, 2012 Super User Posted January 9, 2012 A bit too early to say, but I'm very impressed with an used Citica 201D I bought from here. I cleaned and lubed it, and was making 50 yard casts with it the other day. Might well become my favorite reel, considering that it's on my jig rod.. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted January 9, 2012 Super User Posted January 9, 2012 umm....casting would be my core 50mg, spinning would be rw's stella 2500. One day I will own one of those! Jeff Quote

Super User BASSclary Posted January 9, 2012 Super User Posted January 9, 2012 Curado 50E for the little guys, and my Daiwa Fuego right now for everything else. Of course, in a year those will probably be different. Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 My favorite reels: Spinning: Catalyst PTi-20B Casting: Quantum Energy PT E761 and Quantum Accurist PT AC101 HPT Casting reels are sharing double duty as favorites. Quote

Jeff My Stella's are the dumbest thing I've ever purchased. All it does is make me want to get ALL of my spinning reels as Stellas. Quote
Packard Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 My Shimano Chromica 100b is probably my favorite reel. Is it my lightest, most expensive, farthest caster, or best looking? No it isn't but it was my first baitcaster and I can't make it backlash if I tried and it can cast pretty dang far. I like that I only paid $40 for it off the Bay. Honestly, I like all my reels in my current lineup. (Curado 200e7, Chromica 100b, Carbonlite, and Chronarch 100b.) I am a Shimano guy though but can't afford to pay $300 for their "light" reel so I got the carbonlite on sale. Quote
fishinflip415 Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 My favorite reel that I own is the Core 50mg. Can handle everything really well. Close second would be the chronarch 100D7. This reel just feels solid. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 9, 2012 Super User Posted January 9, 2012 I used to have a favorite but not any more. Everything works well, I take the outfit that is best suited for the species and location, it isn't just the reel it's the total package. I use a Star mh 7' 10/20 2 oz lure with a stradic 4000 20# braid and a Redbone med 7'6 3/4 lure with soron 40 15# braid as my most used outfits. Quote

Super User Bankbeater Posted January 9, 2012 Super User Posted January 9, 2012 Baitcaster is the Curado. Spinning is the President. Quote
NBR Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I have a Curado and other Shimano's, more than one Daiwa, a Pflueger or two, some BPS', a Quantum or two. Frankly I always like a new reel when I get it and continue to like it as time moves along but not appreciately better or more than my older models. Usually I buy a new reel because of newer features that are seem to be improved but I still use the older reels and never have the urge to replace them all with the newest purchase. My favorite reel of all time ws an el cheapo BPS that I bought as a spare for a boat-in trip into Ontario. After well over 20 years the el-cheapo crapped out but I have several other reels that I am searching for parts to scavenge so I can get the old favorite functioal again. If I don't have the old job functional by ice out we will need to hold a burial service. This reel is not special in any feature but it is small and fits my hand and fishing to a tee. My axion is pretty simple. Put the reel on the rod you in-tend for its use. If it's comfortable and in your price range buy it. Quote
