Spinning rod recommendation needed

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a spinning rod recommendation.  I'd pair it with a 2500 Shimano/Daiwa.  The intended uses are:

--split-shotting

--1/8 - 1/4 shakey head

--weightless plastics (trick works, senkos, flukes)

--finesse jigs

--light dock skipping

--(in a pinch) hard jerkbaits (Pointer 100s and smaller)

In the past I've used a St Croix AS69MLXF that was too light, and a Dobyns (generation 1) 703SXF, that just doesn't seem to suit me (I can't really put my finger on why).

Looking in the $150-250 range.  My first thought was to get a St Croix 68MXF (Avid or Tourney Bass).  Any other ideas?  Is it worth saving a few more bones and stepping up to the St Croix Extreme line?

I just bought a Damiki Dark Angel 7'M spinning rod that I plan to use for most of the mentioned techniques, except for split-shotting, never do it.

hands down the 7 2 cumara 6-12 ex fast.

light line 4-6lb casts a mile , you feel everything.

As far as the Carrot Sticks go -- not just no, but heck no.    I know folks love these things but to me they're just plan ugly.  And I've handled some in a local tackle shop and they just don't seem like anything special.

I might need to look further into the Cumara.  I'd like to keep the rod below 7ft, but they make a 6'8" version

The Avid AVS68MXF is a great rod!

The only other option I would consider in your price

have to shop around a bit, the Loomis MSRP is $275.

If you add drop shotting to that list, thats exactly what I do with my spinning rods. I think if you found the ML Avid to be too light the M would suit you just fine. I own several Legend T's and Avids and for my money I'd stick with the Avid, one of the best 'bang for the buck" rods out there.

So there's not really a significant step up from the Avid to the LT as far as sensitivity goes?

Significant...........not really, yes there is a slight increase in sensitvity, and you get the nicer finish. I think the biggest differance in feel, to me at least, between the Avid and LT is the action. A fast action LT is faster than  an Avid of the same power/action. I switch back and forth all daylong from LT's to Avid's and never feel much differance.

Now all my LT's are the pre-2008 w/full rear grips, and I bought them when they were on sale, so they were a good deal to me, also my Avids are all the pre-2008 non IPC Avids, also bought on sale. I really don't know for sure how the IPC Avids fish, but I can't imagine they went backwards, if you know what I mean.

The reason I ask is that I still have my Avid, and if I were to go up a level to LT, or Elite, I could utilize the St Croix Upgrade program

I would take advantage of the trade in program I have done it 2 times and it is a great program.
