MONSTERhudd Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Who uses flouro for flipping heavy cover? Mostly flipping thick tulies here. I was thinking about switching to some 20lb flouro instead of 65lb braid. Quote
flipinstick88 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Another option would be to keep the braid on the reel and add a flouro leader. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted March 30, 2009 Super User Posted March 30, 2009 I would use braid with a 20 pound fluoro leader. Go with at least 30 pound braid though. I don't like using mono over 15 pound test, and for heavy cover 15 pound is often too light, even for little bass. Braid is your best bet for cover. Quote
mase088 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I would like to know what people think of this also. I was flipping all day for the past 2 days behind my boater for a tournament. He was flipping with 20lb big game and was able to hoist two 5+ lbers into the boat w/o lipping them on top of pulling them out of the nasty stuff as well as other smaller fish. He also never broke off. I was flipping with 50 lb power pro and popped my line twice, once after setting the hook, missing and it popping in the air behind me, and once after getting stuck and just trying to pull some weeds out. After that I flipped with 15 lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid and pulled three 3lbers in w/ no problem. I was thinking of flipping with 20 lb Hybrid from now on. Quote
