dmac14 Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Alright so thinking of buying one of these as my crankbait reel. Seems like a good reel, I just have a few questions. What kind of braking does it have? Also I see it comes with free wiley x sunglasses, which sell for $130, you think it would be reasonable to buy the reel, get the sunglasses and then sell them for ~$100? Sounds like a good idea to me, But will people buy them? If they don't I will be out of alot of money, I searched on ebay and didnt see any other than from stores. Thanks -Dylan Quote
Triton20XSD Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I just bought one this year. It's paired up with a St. Croix Legend Bass big cranker rod. I just used it for the 1st time over the weekend. Very sweek set up. I can't wait to actually catch something on it. I never mess with the braking on my reels. It seemed to cast very well right out of the box. I was throwing a Bomber Switchback crankbait. I'm not sure how it will be with lighter cranks but then again, I probably won't be throwing anything less than 3/8 oz with this set up. Quote
NHfroggin Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 how will you be out any money? if you get a free pair of sunglasses with the reel and sell them for 100 that's 100 profit if you cant sell them you not out anything, you just have a nice pair of sunglasses for yourself. bassmaster6 Quote
triwbass Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 three of my buddies have the winch and all three say if throwing 3/8 oz plugs or bigger its wonderful but not so much for baits lighter,,,but then again in the add it says its for big crankbaits dont it,,,, Quote
I Love BassResource Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 three of my buddies have the winch and all three say if throwing 3/8 oz plugs or bigger its wonderful but not so much for baits lighter,,,but then again in the add it says its for big crankbaits dont it,,,, That's exactly my opinion. I love the reel, but with anything less than 3/8, I pick up another stick. I use mine on my deep cranking rod, so its not really an issue. Quote
Super User flechero Posted March 25, 2009 Super User Posted March 25, 2009 Mine is used as a swimbait reel.... I like it a lot. Quote
triwbass Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 will also say though when they are with me and not using it i use it to throw my strike king series 6 cranks and let me tell ya its does what its made to do very well Quote
Super User Micro Posted March 26, 2009 Super User Posted March 26, 2009 It's a great reel. It really excels with heavier baits - 1/2oz and up. Below that and there are better options. Quote
