Man Daiwa is AWESOME, IMHO Nothing comes close.. What are you looking for in a reel? if you want something that casts light baits really well like 1/8oz and up Go with the SOL lots of power and performance in a VERY small package.. if you want power, smoothness, built like a tank toughness get a Zillion. I love Zillions thats why I got so many. their SUPER smooth reels and cast light baits well not quite as good as the SOL but still very well. they have crazy power and last forever! Go Daiwa and you wont want to fish anything else.

I switched almost half my arsenal over to Daiwa.  I have the Sol, a couple of Fuegos and several Zillions.  The Zillions are by far my favorite.  They will handle 1/4oz baits reasonably well and heavier baits exceptionally well.  And they are built like swiss watches.

I own two Sols, an Ito Alphas, two TD-X103HSDL, two Black Widow II's (TD-A, Tierras), a few old silver Capricorns, and some other older Daiwa that I don't use anymore.  By far the best Daiwa for the money is either a TD-A HSTA or Tierra.  Really incredible reels for the coin.  If you're going "whole hog," Zillions are about as good as it gets.

I haven't had teh pleasure of using any of the zillions or sols yet, but have 3 of the tda's and a couple of the tierras.  I absolutley would recommend either of teh tda's or the tierras.  If the zillions are better than either of those you couldn't go wrong with one of those either.

I still have a bunch of old td hi and td pi reels from the mid 90's that are still going strong, as well as a few of the tdx and tds reels from the early 2000's that are still going.

YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED BY TEAM DAIWA REELS. PERIOD.

If you are into lefty reels I would not think it too much and bid on this one

You can place a bid and max bid up to $240 ( which is about for what they sale when not bidding ) and you 'll get one of the best Daiwa reels ever made.

For a small fee Tackle Warehouse has a demo program. www.***.com This program is for Daiwa reels and will allow you to test up to four reels at a time. We have all made the mistake of buying a reel and selling to try another at a loss. This is a way to minimize your loss.

Ton of options for under $300. Let us know what you want to use it for. Is weight a factor? Don't overlook the JDM reels. The Alphas reels are sweet for the money. If you want one of the premier finesse baitcasters go with the pixy and you won't regret it. Consider buying used from ichibantackle.com or the forums.

Ray is right, I listed Zillion and SOL because there easy to get.. The Alphas is a great reel... but if you want the GREATEST super light weight lure throwing bait caster ever.... theres only one choice... Daiwa Pixy.... and im sure anyone who knows Elite JDM reels will agree. I love my super tuned TD-Z's for throwing light baits but nothing compares to a pixy when it comes to baits under a 1/8oz (as far as bait casters)

i appreciate it guys... there are so many daiwas to choose from! im torn between the zillion and the pixy :'(

I, when faced with the same dilemma you are facing do what any enthusiast with more money than brain does: I get one of each. :)

There you go, you can have it for $307 straight from Ichiban:

I have the 50th Zillion, Pixy, 100M TDZ, Steez and even a Luna.  Have some more saltwater Daiwas too.

You really can't go wrong with any of them....I love all my reels.  All are great casters, hardly ever get a birds nest unless I skip a bait or hit something unexpectedly.

The Steez ... you could get lucky and find one gently used for around $300.  That thing is just in a class of it's own.  Incredible reel.

Pixy is my funnest reel.  Use it for all kinds of stuff and use it the most.  I use it everywhere including pond hopping.  For lightweight baits, this one is supreme.

Steez, Z and Pixy are magnesium reels so really light.  Zillion is a bit heavier than those but built like a tank.

I'd recommend upgrading the drag on the Pixy or Z, if you get one of those.  Zillion and Steez are good ta go.
