It takes ugly to a whole new level. At least AbuGarcia was smart enough to give the Reese reel yellow accents rather than making it entirely yellow.

I just got a couple of sets of the Ceramic Lightning Hybrid spool bearings from Boca, have you noticed any difference compare to ZPI bearings ?

The only difference I have noticed is the ZPI bearings are a little more noisier at first when compared to the Lightnings.  They seem to break in faster too.  I haven't noticed much difference in overall casting distance between the two.

I run all the Carbontex with a very light film of grease.  I lose about 1/2 pound of drag on top end by running them wet but the break away drag is so much smoother.  You don't get that stutter on the initial run of the fish as you would running them dry.

I used Cal's Drag Grease from SmoothDrag last year, this year I am using Shimano Drag Grease from Reel Mech's shop.  They're both nearly identical except for color, I just wanted to try something new this year.  That's the beauty of servicing your own reels, if you don't like it, you can always change it.

That's funny, I just went the opposite, LOL.  The only dry system I use is on my heavy cover reels.  The wet system is such a huge upgrade over stock.

hey boutthole, when did you get a crazy cranker.i almost pulled the trigger the other day on one. I did betray Diawa and bought a Revo SX-HS. I likes it alot. It does pick up slack line super fast. I cant wait to get the 21 Carrot Gold Flippin stick in. I really want that crazy cranker. Wife is gonna be MAD.

I got it back in December of 2007. It's the one on the big cranking rod I was using last year at Guntersville in the deeper water.

You're not really going to pay almost $600 just to have a black anniversary are you?!  Daiwa Japan is charging $579 because they know those crazy Japanese will pay that much for it solely due to the 'limited' stamp on it.  The USA Anniversary reel has CRBB's coming out it's ears; so Daiwa Japan can't put any more bearings in it.  The spool isn't drilled out as much as the USA's version either....which surprises me.  I'm all ears as to why that reel worth nearly twice as much as a US version.  Maybe I'm missing something.

2. It has that cool handle

Besides, it will be a little cheaper I think when most of the shops in Japan start picking them up. I would look for the price to settle around $459 - $479 like the rest of the limited Zillions have. Most of them can be had for $450 now.

Still a lot of money to pay for something I can get right here for less than $300. There's no method to my madness or should I say sickness.

I won't deny it has a couple of cosmetic 'touches' that Daiwa Japan did versus the US version, but I think it is waaaay overpriced for an aluminum framed, borderline heavy reel.  If it was an Mg I'd be all over it.  That said; I can't imagine why the US Anniversary zillions aren't sold out.  With the price increase of the regular Zillions; you are paying a measly $30 for a lighter/more refined spool and more bearings.  It seems like a no-brainer to go with it versus the 7:1.

I dont want to jump on his forum listing but I would Love to show off my Daiwa arsenal!! And I will be getting on of the Limited JDM Zillions too. Just as I have the HLC and PE..  The HLC looks sweet but I was upset when it cast almost the same as the normal Zillion but it sure does look sweet. anyhow if you dont mind me showing off my reels let me know its ok!
