Super User Dan: Posted September 5, 2008 Super User Posted September 5, 2008 I just saw these on *** and I figured that someone would have made a thread about them but I did a search and nothing came up. So, has anyone heard anything about these? They look pretty decent for the price but I don't know any of the specifications for them... I don't know if I like the cork AND foam configuration though Quote
Big Tom Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 I have never seen these before. They look crazy though. They sure suit his personality. Quote
mike bat Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 they look sweet ... i myself am looking into getting a few zillion rods ... i prefer the stelthy look of the zillions over the ike rods ... the bass will see ya coming a mile away with that ike rod... LOL Quote
bmadd Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 I helped with the final day weigh in at the Old Hickory Tournament and got to talk to him once he got off the water. He started talking about how he had been using a new rod all week and when I asked him about it he told me he had a signature series coming out and that he had been using th 8' model and that it is sweet. Kinda hard for me to believe that someone that small is using an 8' rod. He had nothing but good things to say about it so take that for what it's worth. Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 5, 2008 Super User Posted September 5, 2008 First time I have heard of them. Looking forward to reading about them later this year. I understand that if you miss a fish or if the fish in the well die the rod goes berzerk and breaks off your American flag on the boat. ;D Quote
Super User 5bass Posted September 6, 2008 Super User Posted September 6, 2008 I understand that if you miss a fish or if the fish in the well die the rod goes berzerk and breaks off your American flag on the boat. ;D He's never going to hear the end of that one....the 'Mike Meltdown' Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted September 6, 2008 BassResource.com Administrator Posted September 6, 2008 I had a chance to check out the full lineup at ICAST. Pretty sweet rods. When I talked to him last week, he said he wanted to have rods that were unique and different than what was already on the market. Sweet rods. Quote
ghost Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 The local fishing store has the Ike baitcast rods. They do looke very nice, & the reel seat is just like the ones on the Steez baitcast rods. I didn't see any of the Ike spinning rods though. The price for the Ike baitcast rod at this store is $120. Not a bad price at all when the Zillion which the store also has goes for $200. I didn't notice the eva butt grip on the Ike rod, I'll have to take a look at that when I stop in the store next week. Quote
The_Natural Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 Same blank as the Zillion rods, and the Zillion rods are very impressive. Quote
basspro48 Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 Wow I'm definitely gonna check those out, thats a sick lookin stick Quote
fishntime Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 Ya, I also was on the Tackle Warehouse site and I must say that the Ike rod looks pretty impressive. By the way I ordered the 7'2" model. Now I just sit and wait..... Quote
Super User Dan: Posted September 6, 2008 Author Super User Posted September 6, 2008 wow, thanks for the info. Sounds like they might be a good value rod worth checking. Quote
Dwight Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 They only have a 5 year limited warranty. Quote
mike bat Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 im not sure i like the air beam reel seat ... i do really like the look of the zillion reel seat however ... the air beam reel seat ??? i geuss i done understand how it would offer more feel than the zillion reel seat .... Quote
Cory20 Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Same blank as the Zillion rods, and the Zillion rods are very impressive. excellent Quote
MN Bass Man Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Anybody try one of these yet? I'm curious how they would compare to a Mojo rod. Quote

PM me or leave post here if intrested. thanks bassmaster6 Quote
The Next KVD Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 I picked these up at a sportshow and thought they were nothing special. I'm pretty sure I'd just pay an extra $30-$80 depending on the model for an St. Croix Avid. Quote
The_Natural Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Same blank as the Zillion rods, and the Zillion rods are very impressive. This is inaccurate; the Iaconelli series uses an IM6 blank. However, Daiwa does claim it to be a 'high volume fiber' or HVF blank, which confused me. I have handled the Ike series and they do seem nice for the money...and fairly good-looking. I just wish they would have done the entire handle in their air-foam instead of 50/50. Quote
