-nick- Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 I'm looking for a swimbait rod around 7' for around 100-130. I don't want a long swimbait rod like a 7'6". Is it absolutely necessary to have a longer rod for swimbaits or would I be alright using a 7'? If it's ok does anyone know anywhere to get a 7' swimbait rod? Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 It all depends on what size swim baits you will be using? If you are using small ones like the money minnow and Spro 4" Shad than a 7' is most likely okay. If you will be using ones like the Spro 8" swim bait and Huddleston you might want to look into a 7' 11" model. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 17, 2009 Super User Posted March 17, 2009 Throwing swimbaits on a 7' rod is as fun as having an ingrown toenail removed. Quote
Branuss04 Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Alright 7'6 it is thanks guys. The Okuma is right in your price range. Great rod for the money and a great warranty as well. the 7'6" H is a very versitile rod. It handles small baits around 2oz with ease as well as hucking 8in hudds. You won't be dissapointed!!! Quote
bpm2000 Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 you want leverage, you want casting distance, you want a rod that can handle the weight of your lure. okuma 7'6" is a good choice if u dont want to step up to the 7'11"+ Quote
