andamtoft Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 in terms of using a baitcaster, what reel have you guys had the best success with when using lighter baits? Quote
FordNFishinLover Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Why not just get a spinning setup for all your light rigs?? Make life much more easier! Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 15, 2009 Super User Posted March 15, 2009 Pay more attention to the rod. Quote
bassinfla82 Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 X2 on the SOL its a GREAT reel and cast light baits almost as good as my Daiwa Pixys and nothing cast light baits like a Pixy so thats saying something! Quote
bigmountaineer Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I would suggest a spinning setup, seems they are geared more towards lighter lines. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted March 16, 2009 Super User Posted March 16, 2009 Pay more attention to the rod. Exactly. I throw a 1/8 ounce bait, and sometimes smaller, all day on the Sol, Chronarch 50mg and Abu Premier but the rod I use makes it possible. Quote
Calcutta Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I would suggest a spinning setup, seems they are geared more towards lighter lines. I agree 100% Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 16, 2009 Super User Posted March 16, 2009 I throw 1/8 oz baits and lighter on baitcasting tackle with Abu C3 and C4 plus other brands with disengaging level winds. Your rod choice and casting technique will determine if you can handle the lighter weights. Quote
Super User Raul Posted March 16, 2009 Super User Posted March 16, 2009 Good baitcasters for light baits: Daiwa Sol Chronarch Mg Curado 100D Daiwa Alphas Itö Daiwa Alphas Daiwa Alphas Type F Daiwa Alphas R edition Scorpion 1000 Scorpion 1000 Mg TDZ 103H Great: TDZ 105H Daiwa Liberto Pixy Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted March 16, 2009 Super User Posted March 16, 2009 I can throw 1/16 ounce with my Revo S. Quote
