I am looking for a 2 pieces 7' M/H cast rod around $100 for pitching jig and spinner. what I found there is only 2 pc for 6'6, no 7' or 7'2. I don't know why. And if I really have to buy 6'6, can you guys give me some recommendation? thank you Quote
Autiger24 Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 A two piece rod has a lot less sensitivity than a one piece. The only reason to buy a two piece would be travel reasons and there are ways around that. I personally wouldn't spend that much money on one. Quote

rodmaker65 Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 casting rods are built in the conventional style with the guides on top of the blank.... if you have this on a two piece rod the tip section will try to twist to bring the guides to the bottom under a load or fighting a fish..( thats why you dont see rods built in two piece) think about it it really makes sence if you really want a two piece casting rod search for a rod builder who will make you one custom.. or better yet look into a spiralbuilt rod or aka acid rods these rods are built on one or two pieces but the guides are on the bottom just like a spinning rod at the tip then spiral around to end up on top for the first and second guides ( the ones closest to the reel) Quote

I have a Clarus two piece casting rod and caught 2-5 lbs all day and it the rod never twisted as such. I have casting rods that are two piece and longer (my steelhead/salmon rods, and I reckon they're two piece for practical reasons. I have battled salmon that make big bass look like dinks but I don't think I have seen the top piece twist from center alignment during a full on battle. I will look for this next time I battle. Perhaps I am just lucky so far. The odd thing is that Loomis, Lamiglas, and other rod makers make 2 piece casting rods for other species that are longer. I wonder if having the potential for the rod to twist is something they overlook. Quote

The C702-2 has a fast action, which I think is suitable for more situations. I have the C703-2, but this rod has a moderate action, which I use for my crankbaits. I use the C704-2 for jigs, frogs, and carolina rigs. I have 8 of these rods in different lengths and powers, which I consider my "travel" rods. They are quite sensitive (though, I will admit, they are not as sensitive as my G Loomis IMX or GLX) and I don't worry about breaking them, because Cabelas has a great warranty (though, I do take good care of them). I can find some Quantum, Shimano, diwa, G-loomis in my local store, but it's really hard to find what I want. Quote
Super User Raul Posted March 14, 2009 Super User Posted March 14, 2009 You are in heaven compared to me, I 'm a poor mexican and the nearest BPS is a 2 hour flight from me, so on-line shopping is all I do 99% of the time. You can get any of those rods at Plat from Japan, shipped by EMS to your door and they turn out to be as expensive as an Avid including the shipping. I have a spinning rod of that line and I really like it ( I 'm a Loomisoid ), you get all the goodies you wish you could have in a rod but without the hefty price. Much better rod than a GL2, better than a Crucial and in the Avid range of quality and feel. Srprisingly for those who think that a 2 piece rod is "less" sensitive, this rod feels as sensitive as an Avid. Quote
noonpei Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 Canada is not heaven, man. you have to pay tax for everything, even you buy the things from outsea, you still have to pay custom, broker fee sth. once I bought a moto mounter for my boat. the mount is 30, but when I get it, I paid almost 90. that's terrible experience made me never buy sth online from outsea any more.
