btechvft70 Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I am looking for a new drop shot rod to pair with my shimano stradic 2500fi any recommendations. Quote
SWMIBASSER Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I haven't tried it yet, but I can't wait to pick up the 7'2" Carrot Stix dropshot rod.....And slap a Pflueger Supreme on it.... Other than a Steez/Steez combo it would be about impossible to find anything lighter. Quote
Super User David P Posted March 9, 2009 Super User Posted March 9, 2009 I fish my drop shot on a Dobyns 702 C and sometimes on the 702 Spinning. Fun rod for drop shot and shaky head. Quote
Willzx225 Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 shimano Crucial 6'8" or 7'2" DS rod. I have the 6'8" and love it! Also works well for #5 Shad Raps and small, light plastics. Quote
Branuss04 Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 shimano Crucial 6'8" or 7'2" DS rod. I have the 6'8" and love it! Also works well for #5 Shad Raps and small, light plastics. I'll second this. I own the 7'2"M and love it. It's great for an all around light tackle rod. DS, Shakey Head, 1/4 oz jigs, small jerkbaits, even a trout rod. Plus it holds a great warranty for the price and has a split grip (Not a big deal, but you don't see many rods in this price range offer the split) Quote
Infidel. Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I would say the 6'9" ML or 6'8" M St. Croix Avid or legend tournament. They are both great rods, just depends on how light you go with your drop shotting. Quote
btechvft70 Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 infidel I was thinking about the legend tournament I have it narrowed down to the st. croix and the g loomis 6'8" ml drop shot rod Quote
Infidel. Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I have fished both of those rods and you can't go wrong with either one. You are just going to have to get to a store that has both rods, strap your reel on them and see how they feel. Either way you will be happy. Quote
KevO Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 shimano Crucial 6'8" or 7'2" DS rod. I have the 6'8" and love it! Also works well for #5 Shad Raps and small, light plastics. X3 Either is a great rod. I have the 6'8 and it works great for #5 shad raps. I caught 30 bass on that rod yesterday with a #5. Oh yeah I've got a new stradic on it too, you will really love it. Super User islandbass Posted March 11, 2009 Super User Posted March 11, 2009 This is going to probably be the only recommendation for this rod, but the lamiglas certified pro drop shot special I or II. I have the I and it is a very awesome rod. It's so sensitive that it is almost not fair for the fish. ;D Quote
Big Al Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 My favorite dropshot rod is an 6'8" medium extra-fast Avid. Actually it's my favorite for any weightless/finesse plastic too. I haven't fished shimano or loomis but a similar rod from them would be alright too. The ex-fast tip is super sensitive and gives you a quick solid hookset. Quote
Jacob0434 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 I'm probally one of the few that will say this, but the Rogue 7'0" DS Spinning rod is a great Drop Shot rod. It's lightweight to me, super sensitive and the recoil guides are quite nice Quote
Vinfisherman Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I'm using the 7'2" M crucial dropshot rod with the exact reel you have and it is SWEET Quote
