Triton21 Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I sent 4 Morrums to Garcia to be repaired. I bought these reels when Berkley bought Garica for $85.00ea when Berkley clearanced them in the '90s. They need some repair but when I was told how much it cost I said not to repair them. The guy that called me said they would give me 45% off any reel trade in. I now have a Wench, 2 STX-HS and a Stx 6.3-1 coming for $440.00. Quote

Super User cart7t Posted March 11, 2009 Super User Posted March 11, 2009 What physical condition were they in? Quote
Triton21 Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 What physical condition were they in? The morrums were fished hard for about 8 years. Boat rash and the foot on each one of them was either completely off or bent(Too soft aluminum alloy, design flaw). These reels originally retailed for $299.95. Appeared to mechanically sound. Was going to cost around $150.00 per reel to repair with the same defective replacement parts. This was a 'No Brainer'. Quote
Super User Micro Posted March 11, 2009 Super User Posted March 11, 2009 That's a good price for the new reels, but you may have let the Morrums go too cheaply. If they were in half-way decent condition you might have made a pretty penny on ebay. Quote
bigmountaineer Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Good deal, I would take four brand new one's any day. I think it's a good deal if you add the money off. Quote
