Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 5, 2009 Super User Posted March 5, 2009 Line conditioner.....med hot tap water will do the same Reel magic............saw no real benefit Lube.....................corrosion x or corrosion block, nothing better Beware using it on shimano, your warranty will be voided, even though it's superior to their oil. A shimano authorized service center turned me on to it. Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 5, 2009 Super User Posted March 5, 2009 Use KVD Lure and Line Conditioner. You will not be disappointed. Quote
The_Natural Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Natural, whats it do for the foam?? After every trip I'll wipe off my foam handles with a wet rag, and after they dry, I'll spray them down with reel magic. The silicone really rejuvenates the foam, and is a great UV protectant. It seems to penetrate the foam and turn it back to a deep black....like it was when it was new. It isn't greasy or slick at all. I highly recommend it if you have foam handles on your rods. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted March 6, 2009 Super User Posted March 6, 2009 Use KVD Lure and Line Conditioner. You will not be disappointed. There is a good possibility that you will be disappointed John. I used it for 4 weeks, Sprayed my line, on the reels every night when I got home and used it the next day. The product was used on 4 rods all with Mono less than 15 lb test, same as you John, using same brand mono.Other than you being new to bait casting is that mono really giving you any issues? The mono I used gives me no problems that need any conditioning , I used the product for a month and for me no major benefits for the equipment i was using, I cant speak for other types of lines and other tests of mono. Super User Jig Man Posted March 6, 2009 Super User Posted March 6, 2009 I want to care for my reels the best I can so they treat me good and last. DOES THIS STUFF WORK FOR THAT PURPOSE???????? It is of no benefit to your reels. Blakemore named it REEL magic in the beginning. Lots of people tried to use it as a reel lube. It didn't work and that is why it is now called REAL magic but few people even notice that they have changed its name. Just get you some good reel gear grease and reel oil. That is all you need. fatbass Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 I recognize a difference in performance using Reel Magic. It seems to help reduce twist and memory. Going to try KVD LLC this year. I apply it by spraying some in a small area of a rag. As I spool my reel, I have the rag in hand and hold the line so that it passes over the conditioner I've applied to the rag. I'll pinch it between my fingers. I'll then spray some on the full spool as desired. Hope that makes sense. I've read articles like this one that do a fine job of explaining. http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/fishingtips/news/story?page=b_ike_lineselection_July_08 Quote
Willzx225 Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 I do the same as FatBass does with KVD Line and Lure when spooling fresh line. It works very well. The biggest benefit from L&L for me is on my larger pound diameter mono lines (15lb up), flurocarbon (necessity here!), and anything on a spinning reel. I find that I get fewer knots and loops caused by spinning gear with line treated with L&L. Also this is a life saver when you take your wife or young kid fishing since they tend to distroy line on a spinning reel ;D I once had a squeeking spinning reel and thought I would cure it by spraying Reel Magic on the handle shaft. OOPs, it locked up within a day and I had no idea why. HAHA Quote
Sharkbite Posted March 7, 2009 Author Posted March 7, 2009 Hey thanks guys I am going to do half of my reels with Magic and half without. This way I'll notice the difference and were it helps me or not. Quote
