paul. Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 hey y'all. wondering if y'all could help me with something. i have decided to try to upgrade the quality of the jigs i'm using. i never thought i'd see the day where i'd even consider spending 4 dollars on a jig, but i have seen 2 now that i am really impressed with. one is the evolution jig - advertised on this site. the other is the jig-x by vertical lures. has anyone used either of these? if so what do ya think? were they worth the extra $? has anyone used both? how do they compare? are there any other "premium" jigs out there that rate with these 2? thanks a lot for your help guys. Super User grimlin Posted December 10, 2007 Super User Posted December 10, 2007 Jig X hands down no questions asked.I fish both and the evolution is not seeing outside my tackle box much at all.No offense to evolution,i just don't like that rocker on their jig. Only thing with jig x is you gotta learn another new way to tie on...not all that difficult. Quote

The JigX's lead body is flat on the bottom. The added(if you want to use them--I do) rattles(2) are positioned around the skirt so the are splayed out on the bottom of the jig. Those two features will allow the JigX to stand upright if you're using a floatable chunk style trailer. Btw, the open area where the knot is tied makes for a great place to add a gob of Megastrike. Super User Catt Posted December 12, 2007 Super User Posted December 12, 2007 Other than the skirts y'all don't think they look the same? Jungle Jig Jig-X Quote
Super User Tin Posted December 12, 2007 Super User Posted December 12, 2007 If I remember correctly, isn't the brush guard made of different material. My problem with the evolution jig was that the guard was too soft for fishing brush and they would get hung up very easily. Didn't have that issue witht the jig-x. Also where you tie the knot is much different. Quote
tyrius. Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Other than the skirts y'all don't think they look the same? It looks to me like the jig x has a hole through the jig head that you feed the line through and then tie the line to the back of the head. Look at the white one. You can see a circle at the back end of the jig head. You can see it on the Pumpkin one too. Seems like it would cut through grass much easier this way. Pretty innovative. The Jungle Jig has the eye at the front of the jighead. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Catt, its a different jig. From the pic head tie area is different. Head shape is pretty much the same though. Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 12, 2007 Super User Posted December 12, 2007 Ok there is another jig that does the same thing, slid the line through the head, tie on a split ring and the slide the spit ring over the hook. I've seen that jig some where I'm gonna look in my old tackle boxes. Quote
