OIFBasser Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I've looked and the quickest I can find is a 6,3:1 Does anyone make a burner for round reels? Or can I make one I already have a burner? Quote
SWMIBASSER Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Typically no. But with their larger spool diameter, and longer handle they typically pick up more give similar gear ratios to a LP reel. A 6.3.1 Abu 4600 C4 picks up 30-31" of line per turn. That's on par with all the burner low profiles. And there are lots of upgrades for those reels. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted March 4, 2009 Super User Posted March 4, 2009 Years ago Abu made a high speed gear set for the 5000 series. Not sure if anyone has them lying around, but you might put it out there. They were very noisy though if that matters. Quote
Rangerjoe Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I believe the Abu EXT Pro at 6:4-1 has a IPT of 30 or more. Quote
Stasher1 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I believe the Abu EXT Pro at 6:4-1 has a IPT of 30 or more. I could never find anything from Abu Garcia with that info, so I measured it myself. I pulled about 6' of line from my EXT-Pro, marked it at the levelwind, turned the crank one complete revolution, and then marked the line at the levelwind again. The actual IPT of a 6.4:1 EXT-Pro with a full spool is 27.5"-28", which is right in line with most of the low-pro BC's in the 6.1-6.4:1 range. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 4, 2009 Super User Posted March 4, 2009 OIFbasser, What brand and model reel are you trying to speed up? What is the present gear ratio? Quote
