booneangler Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Just wondering if anyone has had one of these rods yet. Looking at getting me a new deep crankbait rod and they have a 7'8. Was wondering if anyone has got to use this rod yet. Quote
booneangler Posted March 1, 2009 Author Posted March 1, 2009 no one has got to try one of these yet? Quote
westpalmfrogpunk Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 i wondered about these rods two good price point. I have yet to find a store in the area that has these in stock Quote
bmadd Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 From Glenn's pictures and the ESPN footage it doesn't even seem that Ike likes using them. He had one on his deck and seemed to primarily use the older Daiwa Light n Tough series. Quote
NHfroggin Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 i have the Mike Iaconelli 7'2" pitch and skip version havnt been able to use it yet tho, still all ice up here in Nh ike used his 7'2" pitch and skip version in the classic. he used it with a steez reel and was throwing a tru tungsten tube Bassmaster6 Quote
NHfroggin Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Here is the video where he talks about using it. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/iaconelli.html Bassmaster6 Quote
bmadd Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1235174159/all Here's Glenn's pics showing Ike's front deck, not a single Ike rod. Yes the video where he is just talking he says he used the Ike rods, however if you watched the actual ESPN coverage showing him fishing then you would've recognized that the rod he was pitching that tube with was A Daiwa Light n Tough. Those two rods do not look similar so it was not confusion. Quote
NHfroggin Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 is it possible that he used different rods on the day of the tourny i think those pics are from practice right? i dont see ike lieing in an interview about what he used. i also talked to ike at the worcester fishing and hunting show and he said he would be using his line of rods in the classic. bassmaster6 Quote

Those two rods do not look similar so it was not confusion. Again, watch the live coverage. He was clearly using a Light n Tough. I really like Ike. But pros put their names on products to make a little extra pocket cash. It happens. Quote
LakeAnnaBasser Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Exactly.... KVD doesnt use his signature reel that BPS sells. He does use his new rod though Quote
The_Natural Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 The Daiwa Ike rods are probably nice for the price, but Ike uses the Steez rods 95% of the time. Just because he uses a higher end rod doesn't mean he can't endorse/recommend a rod that is less expensive for everyday anglers. Quote
lubina Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 It feels like a nice well balanced rod, not really very light with cheapo line guides. 1 Quote
Bass4Me007 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 It is pretty evident that he used the L&T at least during the times at the Classic he was on camera actually fishing. That doesn't mean he didn't use anything else, or that he may not be on tape using something else, but everytime that I saw he was using the Light and Tough. Quote
