I know the large swim baits work in California but how about places like Bull Shoals, AR?

It's a clear water lake like out west so I'm thinking they would work.

Has anyone tried them with any success?

I'm thinking about buying a couple of the 5" blue gill lures from a company called Matt Lures. They are pretty expensive but fishing in clear water like bull shoals might just work.

So let me know the pros and cons.

I use them in GA all year long and know people who have caught fish on them as far North as Michigan. I caught my biggest bass on one back in April that weighed fifteen pounds twelve ounces but have also caught two pounders on them. I can't see why they wouldn't work anywhere there are bass and sunfish. Use the search feature on this website since there are a bunch of posts about them. Also, the owner of Mattlures is a well respected long time member here on this website.

Ive fished Bull Shoals quite a bit myself and never done fantastic down there. Its a hard lake to fish but they always tell me im there during the wrong time of the year lol. When im there the fish are all suspended and live bait is the only thing anybody is getting hits on. Swimbait is definitly one word ive never heard anybody say down there though. Maybe they are worth a try.

Absolutely try them!!! I fish them here in Illinois and have very good success. I feel throwing a swimbait is a technique that not many fish see here in the midwest. You can buy any of the famous brands like Huddleston or Osprey, just downsize to 4 or 6 inches.
