I'm looking at picking up a Metanium Mg but would like to get some views from people who own or have owned it.  What did you like about it, what didn't you like?  What did you use yours for?

Thanks.

Well, this isn't going to help you much but I thought I'd share anyway.

I just purchased an Mg7 in January and as you know, it's still frozen up here so I have not been able to really put it to the test. But my initial thoughts are:

-Sharp looking.

-Light.

-Palms great.

-It has a more "connected" feel, as if you feel the gearing more (in comparison to a 51 Mg for example). This is probably due to the enlarged gearing. Still very smooth on the retrieve.

-Comes with a protective cover.

It will be placed on a G Loomis MBR 843c and used for T-rigs.

Until we thaw out up here I can't really give a thorough review. These are my opinions thus far.

Ditto what roadwarrior said! ("I like everything about the reel!") Great choice.

RW must be talking about the old version of the Metanium Mg ( Chronarch 100 Mg ), he is correct, that version was a sweet reel, the only drawback was the finish, that reel was a scratch magnet.

Raul, why would he be referring to the old version of the Metanium Mg ( Chronarch 100 Mg )?

You are correct, I bought mine used from Redlinerobert and serviced

by The Reel Mechanic. The finish has a few nicks and scratches, but

in my opinion, they add "character" to the reel. I would rate my reel

an 8/10 aesthetically, 10/10 mechanically.

Because he asked me about the reel before jumping on it and at that time there was no new version.  :D

This is the reel he 's talking about:

The only thing you have to do to that reel is to have it disassembled, cleaned thoroughy and lubed properly, you may want to have a Carbontex drag upgrade while you are at it. It 's a great reel no matter how you look at it.
