Chas13 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Which brand of Fluorocarbon has the least amount of memory. I tired a search but could not find the exact answer to my question. All answers will be helpful.. thanks in advance ;D Quote
Super User South FLA Posted February 26, 2009 Super User Posted February 26, 2009 Many forum members have had success with Berkley's new 100% flouro. I have used it and like it, but not on a spinning reel. Quote
Bass4Me007 Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Seagar InvizX probably has the least in the several I've tried. Berkley 100% isn't bad either. But InvizX still has less. Quote
Chuck H. Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Whatever kind you use, try spraying some KVD Line and Lure on your spool the night before and then during the day as needed. It was made specifically for flourocarbon and braid and really helps eliminate memory. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Triple fish for the ones I've used. Quote

SWMIBASSER Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Does the KVD line conditioner have any kind of scent? Quote

fishizzle Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 I just spooled up Berkley 100% and was surprised how limp it was compared to Vanish Haven't fished it yet though Quote
Primus Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 One of the keys to having manageable floro on a spinning reel is to use a reel with a large spool such as a Shimano Stradic in the 4000 size, also don't fill as close to the lip as you would with mono. Quote
OnthePotomac Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Another vote for German made Triple Fish. Quote

dman Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 when is a good time to use Flouro? I'm so confused by it I never bothered trying it....Ive heard - dont use it for crankbaits = no stretch it will rip the bait out of the mouth... Then i see Edwin Evers on classic patterns say "Use flouro when crankbaiting". Dont use it for topwaters because it sinks...cant use it for worms, senkos because i throw them on spinning tackle and i use smaller reels and even in this thread its mentioned to throw it on larger spinning spools if its used on spinning tackle...Pitchin and Flippin = braid.....Guess i'll stay with mono ,lol Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted March 1, 2009 Super User Posted March 1, 2009 From what I have heard, Fluoro actually has more stretch than mono. Quote
Super User CWB Posted March 1, 2009 Super User Posted March 1, 2009 From what I have heard, Fluoro actually has more stretch than mono. I saw that somewhere also. I picked up some Sunline FC Sniper on Ebay and it is the best I've used. Very expensive retail though. Berkley 100% and BPS XPS both good choices. I think Berkley has a rebate going and BPS has theirs on sale. Quote
SWMIBASSER Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 I have little experience with Flouro. Take this for what it's worth.... I tested a 2.5 foot piece of 8lb Vicious Flouro.....Palomar knot was tied at both ends to a couple of jigs.....I made a special point to wet the knot more than usual. I connected a Rapala digiatal scale to one jig, and the other jig to a large camera gear bag.....It weighed 7lbs. The line held fine for longer than I cared to stand there and hold it. After bouncing the bag a couple times in a feeble attempt to simulate a hook set it broke immediately. I tried it a couple more times same issue result....It was breaking at a little more than 8lbs.....Unfortuneatly that doesn't leave much cusion for hook setting. One jig was a 1/2 oz Strike King Premeir jig. It has an extra large hook eye. Especially compared to the other jig which was a 3/16 oz finisse jig. EVERY time the line broke it was at the smaller jig.....Every break I shortened the line and left the bigger jig on. NEVER re-tieing and never having a problem with breaking at that knot. The final test I tied an old fashioned Trilene knot to the small finesse jig.....This seemed to work better.....I was able to bounce the bag up and down and register close to 9lbs.....Finally a big bounce broke the line....... I did the same test with a little over 12lbs, using regular 12lb Trilene XT Mono. Similar results as with the flouro but with more stretch before breaking..... The vicious seems like it might have a bit of memory. But I'm comparing to mono and not other flouro's...... This is what I found last night.....Take that for what it's worth.... Quote
Bassaholic84 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Look into Spiderwire 100% it is the easiest managable floro ive used yet. I prefer it over trilene 100% Quote
