Unfortunately for me, my favorites have fragile finishes.   My 100DD Pointer with scales (can't remember the color name) seems to lose their scales easily.   They still look good, though

This is all I use for topwaters. I use the G-Splash and Sammy... these two on braid are amazing.

I like lucky craft.   I really like the the pointers in lavender shad.   If you watch BPS you can catch them on sale here and there

Great baits but quite spendy.

I own several of the Sammys and a few Pointers. I fisgure I shouldn't ever lose a topwater bait.

can't get up the nerve to chunk a $15 crankbait.

Excellent baits for the money.  I'm thinking of trying some of their 'real skin' line this coming Spring.  They're supposed to be a hot item for 2008.  

You can't go wrong with a Lucky Craft lure.  Any of them .... well ... other than the Stacy King branded version at BPS .... will catch fish.  I wouldn't recommend the Stacy King version.   I've heard some bad things about them.  Heard is the key word.  I don't have any experience with them personally, so I can't say for sure.

It would be impossible to make a jerkbait to suspend in all densities of water (say 45-55 degrees).  My secrect is the Daiichi 4x treble I use...the stock hooks are 1x or 2x, and if my bait is rising;  I will change the front hook to a 4x to delay the rise.  If it floats up fast I will change both the front and back hooks to Daiichi 4x's...this generally only happens when the water gets in the upper 50's.  The colder the water; the more likely it is to suspend.

I've fished them both with success. When the fish are up shallow use the SSR and when they're a little deeper use the DR (it only dives 5 to 6 feet).

I don't think I will ever buy one. Y should I when the $4 crankbaits and topwaters are working wonders for me.  I think i could use that $20 on gas or for 5 lures instead of one lure instead. just my 2 cents

Wow; since the water started getting hard, and we have little to do here my friends and I had this discussion last evening. Geno brought up the point that we can't compare effectiveness unless the fisherman using the different baits have the same skill level, in finding and catching them. Compared to most of my buddies I am rather low in the skills dept. and since i don't fish LC baits I listened. They were really going at it. I would say, my 2 buddies from Allentown: Geno(LC USER) and Dan ( Heddon,Storm and Rapala user) are about out 2 most experienced Fisherman in our crowd, and frequently fish together. What they found was that probally confidence in what you are using is more important than brand, and that caguht my ear. They both caught similar fish in size and numbers, and this was including LMB,SMB,Northerns,Trout and Muskies , they have had nearly identical results this year. I cannnot give any experience with LC, becuse I have never used them, but listening to the discussion that idea of confidence in what you are using really caught my attention

I have really gotten into the fat cb floating crank. My biggest collection of hardbaits is my pointer collection.

They require no tuning, and have the best action; worth the money

I really like the Pointer 78 and 100 jerkbaits.  They have caught a lot of fish for me when other jerkbaits would not get a sniff.  

The BDS1 and BDS2 are great shallow crankbaits.

The LV0, LV300N and LV200 are great lipless crankbaits.  The LV0 can be fished in super shallow water at slow or fast speeds.  The LV300N has no rattles and the LV200 has a large brass knocker and a unique sound.  They all come in handy now and then.

The LV500 is a great lipless bait also.  It's a 3/4 oz. bait in a 1/2 oz. size.

The LVR Mini is a good mini lipless bait.

The Flat CB series is a good series of crankbaits.  These are some of my favorite baits in the fall.

The CB001 is also a good wake style bait as is the new GDS SSR.

As for colors, I like the Ghost Minnow, Chartreuse Shad and MS American Shad.

Right now I can't decide between RC BDS 2.5 or BDS Marty 1.2 for shallow crankbait fishing. Which one works best? I think I'm going to get the CB 001 over the GDS SSR because it dives deeper for a wakebait. Is this a good decision?

i had a live pointer once but i sold it to get money for a reel, cuz i never fished it and it was still in the pacakage. i tihnk i might get a gunfish though. they look awesome.

I had great success with LC lures.  I have only had one out of the 30+ I own that has not been a good producer.  They work great out of the box, no tuning required.  They have great colors and a selection to fit just about every occasion but there is a downside to these awesome baits. > > > I can't remember all the fish I have caught with these baits but I do remember all LC lures I have lost.  The $15 you get hit with when you loose one really hurts.

Awesome baits, all of them.  I'm addicted.  I just picked up a Super Shallow Mini Crank, not sure of the technical name, but I absolutely can't wait to use this wakebait/bulgebait next spring when the weeds are a foot or two below the surface.  I KNOW it's gonna freakin' kill 'em.

Not a big fan of the Live Pointer - I only bought one and probably won't get another.  The action is unbelievable when you just straight reel it in, but I like the action on the regular pointers a lot more for traditional jerkbait applications.  

A great trout bait is the Pointer 65's - great size for them and small smallies.

The huge live Sammy is my best big bass producer, and the black works wonders at night.

I have a gunfish but haven't used it - looking forward to using it.

As for the realskin series, I saw some at Cabela's last night for 20 bucks a pop (5 bucks more than normal).  They just look like dirty lures (it actually looks like spots of dirt and mold on them), and they seem just a little gimmicky to me.  I'm gonna wait for reviews before I get any.  I'm hoping they suck so I'm not tempted to update my jerkbait box.

And I agree - I don't really have the cojones to chunk LC cranks into brushpiles and laydowns.  I'll stick with my $8 Rapala DT's for that, and it's still a little painful losing those.

If I had to pick one, I would take the Marty 1.2 over the RC 2.5.  I prefer smaller cranks.  Still, if I was to choose a shallow bait like these, I'd take the BDS2.

The CB001 does not have as much wobble as the GDS SSR, but it will dive a little deeper and can be worked on the surface or down to about 1 1/2'.  The GDS SSR is more of a true bulging style bait and will stay more closer to the surface and has a wider wobble.
