The_Natural Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 The new PT is solid; tolerances seem on par with my zillions. I was impressed playing around with it at Cabelas. I like the lower line capacity, and I'm just always game to try a new reel. Still not sure....but I'm debating it. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted February 23, 2009 Super User Posted February 23, 2009 What's the worst thing that could happen? Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted February 23, 2009 Super User Posted February 23, 2009 Go for it, Quantum looks like they are trying to get a game plan together and put on a new face so to speak. The reel looks sharp. I wonder how well it performs? Quote
The_Natural Posted February 23, 2009 Author Posted February 23, 2009 What's the worst thing that could happen? Cabelas gets it back Quote

Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted February 23, 2009 Super User Posted February 23, 2009 It seems like a great reel. The old Tour's were workhorses and I wouldn't expect anything less. Quantum gets a bad rep but I feel like the new PT line is on par with all the rest and they're really easy on the eyes as well. During the classic coverage Hackney was using them and they sure were bright laying on his deck. Quote
hawgchaser Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I have always stayed away from Quantum until I got these Accurist PTs. They are great! I am now looking at the Tour Edition as well. I love the ACS braking system. Its the best I have used. I will let you buy the TE first and see how it goes Quote
ghost Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Yup, looking to buying the tour edition, but in left hand. Not sure which gear ratio I want. I'm just waiting for Cabelas to send me a $30 coupon, then I'll get the reel. I really hate paying full pop when I can try & get it for a bit cheaper. I know that in a couple three years this reel will be under $100, but I think Quantum has a winner w/ their new line of reels. I'll be getting the Energy PT-B 30 during the BPS Spring Classic, it will be $30 off w/ the reel trade in...There's something to think about for those wanting a new Quantum, get it during the reel trade-in. Super User retiredbosn Posted February 23, 2009 Super User Posted February 23, 2009 You could always take advantage of *** demo program. You register, pay shipping and they send you up to four reels of your choice to test. So in short you can pay 20bucks for shipping get a Tour PT, a Zillion and a couple of others, try them out for a week, send them back, and then purchase the one you like the best. Quote

As far as I can tell....the only manufacturer offered through the demo program at this time is daiwa Quote

ToledoEF Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 whats the largest size flourocarbon you can put on it? Quote
The_Natural Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 I bought two of the Blue PT Tour Editions last year when they went on sale for a $129, but they were just too bulky, heavy, and loose. It just didn't feel tight and precisely put together. That is generally why I buy Diawa's, but the new PT seems like it was built by a different company....or factory at least. Quote
bmadd Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I'm considering pulling the trigger on the new pt energy myself. They do look good. Get the tour already and let me know how it is Quote
Bassaholic84 Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 My buddies dad just bought one and he loves it...He is a huge quantum fan so im sure his opinion is a little bias....It feels and looks like a quality reel. Quote
NYfishwow Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 My uncle has the reel, he enjoys it alot, cool thing, its top quality. Quote
21farms Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I'm just waiting for Cabelas to send me a $30 coupon, then I'll get the reel. hey ghost, i have a $25 off a $200 coupon code for cabelas and i'd be happy to email/PM it you if you want it. it is good until 3/31/09 but i've put myself on a buying moratorium and won't be using it. fishntime Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Just ordered the new energy last night, after going to BPS and handling the right handed version. I cant wait to get my hands on it. Mind you I am a Daiwa fannatic, but with this reel, well I just couldnt resist. ;D Quote
bmadd Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 I ordered the new energy Wed as well. Should know what it's like by next weekend Quote
The_Natural Posted February 28, 2009 Author Posted February 28, 2009 I bought two of them right after I made this thread, and fished with one all day Wednesday. I'm heading our the door to meet up with friends, but I'll post a review later. Quote
Big Tom Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I am looking forward to your review. They seem to be solid reels. I would like to see Quantum turn their bad reputation around. Quote
bpraz Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I have both the 08 an 09 Tour Edition baitcasters . I am really impressed with the 09 . I rate it par with my Zillion. Quote
