The last 2 bass seasons Ive been throwin 50lb powerpro at docks on stained lakes and 20lb Vanish flouro on clear water lakes. Well I've had a few to many hookset linebreaks with the flouro and linebreaks lead to heartbreaks, and well I'm just too sensative and cant take it anymore :(;)...The later part of last season I went with strictly braid on my dock rods and I didnt really see any noticable drop in bites, so I'm thinking about running braid on docks fulltime this season...Any thoughts on this???...Lighter hooksets are not an option

I'm different from most and been using braid 100% of the time for the last 2 years, no leader either.  I haven't noticed a difference in the number of fish I catch even in the clear water.

If you like fishing with fluoro, switch brands.  Vanish is absolute garbage, and is well know for line breakage.  If you like Berkley, check out their new 100% fluoro.

Truckman, your statement "Lighter hooksets are not an option " in referring to using braids is incorrect in application. With braids having zero stretch, a lesser hook set than used with monos is required to keep from ripping the hooks out. All it takes is a wrist or forearm motion to get a solid hookset.

Well I compensate for the no stretch braid hookset problem by using a little softer tip on my rod...Denny Brauer did a seminar up here in NY after he won that Champlain elite 3 years ago and said that he sets the hook as hard as he can every single time, even with braid to ensure that the weight clears the fishes mouth and the big flippin hook digs in...I throw a jig' n pig 99% of the time and a wrist snap set just doesnt cut it ...Anyway I think that big hooksets are one of the main reasons everyone bass fishes!!! ;)
