foxlab Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 Could someone explain this line to me. Its advantages. I am thinking about trying some Yo-zuri hybrid this year on my spinning gear. I want to use it mostly for tubes, small jerk baits and senkos. Is this line a good fit. How is its sensativity. Quote
Super User Micro Posted February 23, 2009 Super User Posted February 23, 2009 Read Yo-Zuri's website. It's pretty good at explaining Hybrid. http://www.yo-zuri.com/Products/ProdLine/Hybrid.htm Yo-Zuri is only a little stiffer than mono. It has much less stretch. It has good abrasion resistance. It is stronger than its rated test. It's only a little more expensive than mono. All in all, its an excellent line. Quote
hawgchaser Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I have had really good luck with hybrid lines. The two I like are Triple Fish X Rated and Yozuri. After fishing with Yozuri for the past month in the trees and on the rocks, I am sold. It handles well and is very tough. Bass Pro has some spools left for $5. I ordered 10lb Smoke and 20lb camo green. I have found 10lb to be plenty of line on my BC except for my flipping/pitching rod which I strung with 20lb. The smoke is almost a purple color and does well in ALL water. I thought it would stand out more in clear but it doesn't. I prefer camo green but they didn't have it in the 10 or 12lb spools. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted February 23, 2009 Super User Posted February 23, 2009 All these lines that the others have said are good lines but, give Gamma a good look. I have been useing this for the last two years and I love it! Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted February 23, 2009 Super User Posted February 23, 2009 Becareful when shopping for copolymer lines, especially if you want a hybrid floro-mono line. I found out the hard way that most company's copolymer is a blend of different nylons and has no floro in it. In fact when I questioned a couple of companies about a true copolymer (floro-mono blend) I was always directed to their "floro" lines, which in many cases was just mono with a coating of floro. Due to the high regard that many here have of yo-zuri hybrid I have purchased three spools from BPS for 4.88 for the 1/8 lb spools and 5.88 for the 1/4 lb, which is a great deal. So just make sure you do your homework before buying a copolymer as many companies sell a blend of pure nylons and call it copolymer. There are relatively few true hybrid lines. Quote
supreme Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I use yo zuri ultra soft 6 lbs line & gamma 6lbs ,8lbs & 10lbs line and I recommend them both highly. Quote
Ineedanewscreenname20170204 Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I ordered 2 600 yard spools of 12# test and 1 spool of 15# Yo-Zuri ultra soft (clear) from Cabelas for $12 a spool. I loaded up a few of my baitcasters with 12# and casted around the yard a bit and it casts really well. It is stiffer than mono but seems to handle nicely. I'm sure 12# would NOT handle well on most spinning gear though. I'm sure I'll have another update when I get a chance to fish it. I was thinking of using 15# for pitching jigs but I'm not sure I need that much strength - it seems pretty stiff... Quote
