That's an excellent deal. Even at the regular price of $99 they are a great value. Wouldn't trade mine for any other spinning reel. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted February 19, 2009 Super User Posted February 19, 2009 I love my president but a supreme for the same price...that'd be hard for me to pass up Quote
Big Tom Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Thats what I am saying, Ricky. It sure is a pretty reel. Quote
hawgchaser Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Plueger has got their spinning reels down! Quote
Super User burleytog Posted February 20, 2009 Super User Posted February 20, 2009 Great deal if you like throwing your money in the trash. :-X Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 20, 2009 Super User Posted February 20, 2009 I own 2 supremes, 8030 for freshwater and 8035 I use for snook in saltwater. Despite the contrarian view that magnesium cannot be used it saltwater, just isn't true as long as you rinse it off after each use, any saltwater fisherman does that anyway. Mine are about 6 months old and I use them almost daily, 8035 absolutely manhandles 12-15lb snook, I've been using it in favor of my stradic fi 4000. A real bargain at $69. A negative view based on no practical experience is worthless and should be given no merit. Quote

Why tiptoe around the tulips? If you're gonna call BS, at least name the suspected BS'er. : I bought one a year ago. Fished it sparingly from Mar-July. The reel blew up. Got to the point where the rotor wouldn't turn. I got a new one in the mail from Pure Fishing earlier this month. Already on the shelf of a local retailer waiting to be sold. Foolger fooled me once, that's the only chance they'll get for my money. Quote
MitchIsFishin Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Burly, ya think maybe the first one = lemon? I'm certain shimano/daiwa has spit out a lemon or two in their time. Why not give the second reel a shot? Quote
bigfruits Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 i have the 8025. i ordered it after hearing good reviews and because of the weight. i prefer my 2008 model shimano symetre. i think it is alot smoother and worth the extra weight. Quote

Super User Muddy Posted February 20, 2009 Super User Posted February 20, 2009 I use Presidents, no problems at all. My fishing partner uses the Supreme ,no problems at all. There have been 4 threads this year with fellas who had major SheManO problems, does that mean all SheMano's are trash? Quote
Super User 5bass Posted February 20, 2009 Super User Posted February 20, 2009 Burley didnt have his drag set properly and a 10" dink was burning line off his reel, now he's mad at Pflueger in general. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted February 20, 2009 Super User Posted February 20, 2009 The reel never caught a fish. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted February 20, 2009 Super User Posted February 20, 2009 Neither did the angler Quote

Returned a shemano baitcaster after 3 days, grinded, second one is fine. A bad assembly can happen to any mfg co. Quote
MitchIsFishin Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 A bad assembly can happen to any mfg co Exactly, what I've been saying. Shimano/Daiwa don't have a lock on quality (or quality control, for that matter), and Abu/Pflueger know what the market for this stuff is like and they're stepping up to the plate. If anyone is like me, you have to be value conscious. Quote
SWMIBASSER Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Value conscious or not the Supreme is the best spinning reel out there. I won't buy Shimano as years back a shimano lasted 3 fishing trips. Went in the trash and from that moment forward decided against buying their junk. Now they build quality reels, and I still won't buy because of the rediculas fan club following. Quote
5151 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I have used Pflueger spinning reels for years, fishing out of a kayak in saltwater for reds, trout, flounder and bass fishing from banks, boats, crawling thru swamps and never had any issues. I do all my own maintenance on all my reels so maybe that helps but have never had to do anything other than routine maintenance. They all are made in assembly lines and when you break them down the components are not that dissimilar. For me the performance compared to price has always sold me on Pflueger. So for the topic at hand I think thats is a pretty good deal at Dicks. Quote

Arty Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I bought a Supreme from Dick's this past weekend. I've had most experience with Daiwa spinning reels, but, I'm certainly not opposed to trying something new. Many people on here have sung the praises of this reel, and for $70 it seemed like a great deal. I look forward to using it, and I'll report back sometime in the future with how it's holding up.
