Super User eyedabassman Posted February 20, 2009 Super User Posted February 20, 2009 I have never fished with one but my Bud wants to sell his to me for $30 he never used it. Looks kinda nice, Has anyone of you fished this reel and what do you think of it? :-[ :-/ Quote
Calcutta Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I have a mega force 150i and it aint bad and it aint great but, It will cast a mile. Well worth 30.00, buy it. Quote
-nick- Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I have one and love it! It casts very well and is really smooth. For 30 dollars you should definitely get one! Quote
Dave D Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 How do you guys like the twitch'n bar on the megaforce? Is it all that they say it is? Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I've used mine to catch a couple of nice 3lb LM but it is a gimmick and you can impart action with the rod tip. I paid $50 for mine so at $30 its a steal and does cast quite well. Quote
Arty Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I have one on an '6 Allstar rod, and it works pretty well. It doesn't throw light lures the best, but, overall I'd say it's a good deal for $30. It's pretty smooth, and the drag works well. I've caught a few smallies, and a bunch of LM on this rig. I don't use the twitchin' bar that often; It does work well, I just don't use it a lot. Quote
Matt 825 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 For $30 tell me who your friend is and I will buy it from him. LOL I have 2 of these reels that I bought last year when I was in a pinch for a few reels. I have not used them all that much, but I was impressed with them for a $50 reel. Quote
Super User fishinfiend Posted February 20, 2009 Super User Posted February 20, 2009 I would save the $30 for something else. At first this reel seems great for the price, but after being used the drag will start to slip and bail may not engage properly. I returned mine two months after purchase. If you do a search on this reel you will find that several other of our members had similar problems. Quote
lunka4me Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I have had the same problems after some use. The gears don't engage well after you make a cast. It does seem impressive when you first use it though. Quote

SWMIBASSER Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 My brother uses one for burning lipless baits. On the right days with a 7ft rod and 3/8 to 1/2 oz red eye shad it will nearly if not empty the reel of line. I can't see anything casting medium weight stuff better...... Uses it alot and has held up great. I'll buy it for that price if you don't want it ;D Quote

And I was thinking of small jigs and jigs like the Spot Remover. Quote
joeyd50 Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I have two, my son has two, and another fishing buddy has one. We are all very happy with them. Quote
