Which one should i get

i just got home from bass pro empty handed because i just cant decide which rod to get.  I want to get St.Croix but not sure between the avid, mojo,premier,or legend series.  Yes i know thats pretty much every series but im just clueless

I want a worm rod,jig rod, and cranking rod

Well, do you want 1 rod to do all those things, or are you in the market for multiple rods?

Obvious the Legend Tourney is the best rod you have listed, but the Avid represent the best value.  I would suggest buying somewhere else other than Bass Pro. If you buy over the internet you can eliminate sale tax and you can get a better deal other than paying retail.

i own the ltb jig rod.its nice 8-)but the mojo i looked at today felt the same,like exactly.i know it wont be as sensitve but it weights about the same.i think anything st croix you will be happy with.just spend as much as you want.the more you spend the better they get.oh and i own a loomis imx.thats my fav.around the same money as the ltb.feel them if you can and then decide what one you like better.

ok so i think the rods i will be able to afford will be the avid series... but for 20 dollars cheaper i can get the orginal carrot stix casting rods... which would you think would be the best... also when i said a worm,jig,and cranking rod i was meaning three seperate rods rather than universal... last note is that i plan to use a round abu garcia reels ... that is what i am use to and love them... someone made a comment that it was kinda not right to put that type of reel on a rod such as carrot stix... can anyone tell me why

From my experience, there is a substantial difference in quality between the carrot and the St. Croix Avids.  That additional $20 is well worth it to get the Avid.  Also, reputable online retailers are the way to go!

Start with just one and see how you like it. For an "all around"

baitcaster, Avid AVC66MF. This rod is especially well suited for

working topwater and jerkbaits, but I use it for Spinnerbait and

buzzbaits, too. The tip is a bit to soft for jigs and plastics, but

you can get by for now.

Your next rod(s) would be AVC70MF and/or AVC70MHF. These

are for both soft plastics and jigs. Medium power loads up better

for weightless presentations; MH allows you to fish heavier jigs.

I would not put a round reel on a carrot stick because the round reel weighs more than a low profile reel, thus defeating the purpose of the light weight carrot stick. It seems the carrot stick/abu garcia revo is the most popular combo Ive seen.

IMHO, it's not just the overall weight of a round reel that throws off the handling of the combo, but the higher center of gravity compared to a low-pro baitcaster.

If rod weight isn't your primary concern, I'd skip the Carrot. There are rods out there with better guides and better track records for the same price.

I love my carrot, but if the Avid is one of your choices, I opine for the Avid.  If this is your first more expensive rod, go with the Avid and add to your arsenol from there.  To me the Avid's are security, no matter what else you try, and possibly end up liking, you'll be able to fall back to this rod with total reliability and confidence. jmo

Depending on your budget the Mojo Bass ($90) and the Premier ($110) are nice rods for hte money.  The Avids are real nice though...

Premier was nothing but a headache for me. I had two issues with the guide insert falling out.  > I have had several LTB in the past and they are nice rods, but IMO the Avid is tough to beat at that price range. Powell rods are nice too.

I also use Abu round reels, the higher center of gravity results in farther casts, that is one of the features of BPS David Fritts crankin reel. I use my EXT on my BPS crankin sticks and like the combo well. Take the reel you plan to use already spooled with line and place in on the rod of your choice and see how well they feel.

i went and played around a bit with the avid and legend tournament bass rods today... Is it worth the about 50 dollars more for the ltb rods ... they look and feel nice in the store but just want to make sure before i buy one and decide it wasnt worth the extra bit... also is *** a good site to order rods from ... i just worry they will get messed up in shipping

id spend the extra $50 for the worm/jig rod. i like a sensitive rod for those apps. for the crank rod, id get mojo or premier.

that being said, avid is prob the best value.

you can find better deals online with free shipping. ive ordered about 15 rods and never had a problem. most companys pack it very well. check with the online store about replacement if rod is damaged during shipping.

I handled a couple of the Mojo's this weekend at our local sporting goods store and I really like them for the $.  I'm sure they aren't as nice as an Avid but a good St.Croix rod for sure!

Which rods were you looking at and what will they be used for?  I prefer the full cork grips for reaction baits like cranks, but as was said earlier, I like a very sensitive, simplistic worm or jig rod.  The AVC70MM and AVC70MHM are very nice crankbait rods.  I just picked up an AVC62MXF for topwaters and hard jerkbaits, and early impressions are very good.  

My fishing partner has an LTBC73MHF for worming and jigging, and its a very sensitive stick, despite being a telescoping model.  There are fine details, such as chrome guide frames, aluminum winding checks, and split grip/no fore grip that separate it from the Avid.  Add in the greater sensitivity, and it adds up to a rod that is well worth the price tag.

Both lines are a step up from most of what's out there.

I use an Avid 7' MHF for worms, carolina rigs and jigs and think you would be very pleased. I would also consider a Powell 704 for these applications (I think they run a bit cheaper than the Avid), I have one of these and like it as much as the Avid. Tackle Warehouse is the best place for mail order IMHO. For crankbaits it's hard to beat a BPS crankin stick especially on sale.

Get the Avid. I use a 7' Avid casting rod MH XF and it kicks some serious buttocks.
