Dean Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 These are the Trillionaire's specs... Bearings 10 BB, 1 RB Gear Ratio 6.3:1 Weight 9.3 Oz. Line Capacity (lbs./yds.) 12/150, 14/125 and the Black Widow II's... Bearings 6BB+1RB Gear Ratio 6:3:1 Weight 8.6 Oz. Line Capacity lbs./yards 12/140 Is the only difference the greater weight of the Trillionaire? But then the Trillionaire has more bearings, but if the widow has less are they better quality bearings? This reel will be used for crankin' and will go on my BPS cranking stick since my other reel on it is broke beyond repair. All help is greatly appreciated 8-)! Quote
Super User Micro Posted February 19, 2009 Super User Posted February 19, 2009 I'd go with the Black Widow. It is based on the Team Daiwa Advantage. The Trillionaire is based on the Exceler. IMO, Advantage > Exceler. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewdaiwablackwidow2.html Quote
Super User burleytog Posted February 19, 2009 Super User Posted February 19, 2009 I handled a Trillionaire this week. It isn't a $100 reel IMO. Any reel based on the Advantage frame is going to be superior to those based on the Exceller frame. Quote
Dean Posted February 19, 2009 Author Posted February 19, 2009 Thanks Ron! I plan on getting my Black Widow very soon! Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 19, 2009 Super User Posted February 19, 2009 I have two Black Widows. Nice little reel, a little on the wide side, but comfortable anyway. Well made. I'd go with the Black Widow over the Trillionaire. BTW, the Exceler is based on the JDM Aggrest, which has versions ranging from $185 to $260. I'm pretty sure its meant to be a light saltwater reel. Super User Raul Posted February 19, 2009 Super User Posted February 19, 2009 The differences are not only mechanical, the Black Widow is based on the Advantage therefore more reel, but, the Black Widow is a limited edition reel while the other is not. The Black Widow is a reel manufactured by Daiwa that was sold in limited numbers and distributed only in California. It 's not a 2003, 2005 or 2005 Pixy, nor a TDZ Type R, Type R+, TD103H Itö, Alphas Itö or something like that, but still has the panàge of a reel not easy to find everywhere readily available. Advantage based, bling colors, not readily available ---> Black Widow hands down. Quote

NHfroggin Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 how does the Black widow hold up against the citica e there in the same price range? Quote

Both preform as well as their Avantage counterparts. They look great on Carrot sticks also. Here's pics of the reels: Quote
