Jacob0434 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 This probally has been discused before, but what is an ideal leader length when using braid for flipping and/or Pitching? I will be using either BPS or Pline flouro for my leader. Thanks everyone for your time, Jacob. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 11, 2009 Super User Posted February 11, 2009 Since I'm usually flipping and pitching into weeds, no leader necessary, in fact its counter productive. Green braid matched the background vegetation just fine, and if you're worried about visibility, or using a brightly colored braid, use a Sharpie to color the first few feet to your bait black. Now if I'm fishing docks, I'll use a 6' or so leader of P-Line CFX or Gamma Leader, in 12-20# size. This will protect against abrasions from any rusted dock posts, or the zebra mussels that grow around here. Obviously, if they are floating docks and no zebes, this isn't necessary. Quote
BARON49_Northern NY Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 I have used braided line for flipping and never added a leader. Just another knot to fail under the stress of a big fish in heavy cover. Sort of defeat the pupose of using braid in the first place. Quote
