Bass Pro Shops ProLite Finnesse. It's last years model. I'll post a link when I can.

Sorry  can't post links yet :-[

I really like it, but as preventative measures I'd like to pick up a new pawl (which I should be able to do from BPS) and if it uses bearings that others do maybe I'll look into the ceramic bearings...

Some of you are probably doing the  ::D but with an aluminum frame seven bearings and above all the physical size of the reel it is worth the work and $$ IMO.

You can get the ETX05 Extreme reel cheaper.  Basically the same reel.

I actually got this one for 10bucks cheaper.....I didn't see the extreme reel in that size at the BPS store.

Anyhow who makes those for BPS?

Two or three years ago BPS terminated all agreements with reel brand names and now they advertise they make their own. Which is a misnomer as no company makes their own reel, maybe shimano and diawa, but their factories make reels for other people too. What I mean by that is the factories are in korea, japan, malaysia, china etc. The factories contract with various tackle names and make the reels to the parent company's specs. So in short BPS design their own reels now, which factory actually produces them I have no idea, the same as most other brand names.

here is one story highlighting the Bass Pro conversion to their own reel

and another that specifically spells out the change

For years Kenmore brand washers and dryers were made by Whirlpool specs. Lok at a Kenmore and you see a Whirlpool. While I haven't reviewed the 2009 BPS catalog for features and appearance but my guess is that BPS reels bear a striking resemblance to Pflueger.

This doesn't mean they are necessarily Pfluegers but it would be likely that they are made by the same people.

I have a Prolitefinesse that is about 3 years old and it has served me very well. I cast 1/8 ounce jigs with a small curly tail grub on 12# mono easily.

I have heard that their reels are made by Browning.  I do not know that for a fact though.

A lot of the tooling for the BPS reels is very similar to the Pure fishing line of reels Garcia/Pflueger.  The new Pro Qualifier is definitely a by-product of whomever is building the reels for the Pure companies.  I suspect BPS will slowly start changing their lines to something that looks more like Garcia/Pflueger over the next couple years.
