hawgchaser Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 There are good deals on the Accurist right now. I have thrown most Quantum at some point but not this one. How is it? Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted January 28, 2009 Super User Posted January 28, 2009 I have the PT version and like it a lot. The flippin switch is handy, casts well, seems well made and have not had any problems at all. Quote
basser89 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I have 6 of the first gen Accurists and they've held up great for me. The only reason I don't own any of the newer gen models is I've started switching over to the Energies. The only problem I've had with any of mine was a self inflicted problem I had caused. Keep the clean and lubed and they'll work great for years! My younger brother has 1 of the newer models, hopefully he can chime in on his. Quote
bassnleo Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I own about 10 Accurists of varying age and model. They have always been reliable for me. You will definately get alot of mixed responses on this thread. Some like, some don't, some good, some bad. IMHO it comes down to what feels good in your hand, what you can afford, how you keep a reel in working order. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 28, 2009 Super User Posted January 28, 2009 I own 5 Accurist's , 2 PT's and 3 CX's, they have served me well. At there current close out prices you can't go wrong, especialy with the PT. Quote
fishizzle Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1232645896 I haven't used mine yet but I can't wait Quote
skno Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I have the Shaw Grigsby sig model and it is smooth and casts a mile. I vote good reel Quote
hawgchaser Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 I just picked up an Accurist PT burner. Was $130 now $60!!! Can't go wrong there.... Quote
strick9 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I have two of the pre PT versions and one PT and they are very nice reels. The PT version is deffinetly smoother, if you can pick one for $60 it's a great deal!!!! Quote
von Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Cabela's got 'em for $60. Grab it while you can! Very nice reel! Quote
hawgchaser Posted January 31, 2009 Author Posted January 31, 2009 I should have it in time for next weekend. I'm heading to the lake fri-sun. I will give a review when I return. I have never fished a burner reel before so I don't know how I will like it. But if I do, I'll order another before they sell out. Does anyone know where I can get an Energy on sale from last year? Quote
Thatsabign Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I was at Gander Mt. and they have the energy baitcaster for $100, man I wanted to get it right then and there, but didnt have the cash. They also have the accurist combo for $99 also. I think I might pick up both. Quote
hawgchaser Posted February 1, 2009 Author Posted February 1, 2009 Dang, I'll check Gander tomorrow. $100 is a steal.....the PT Energys are awesome reels! Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted February 1, 2009 Super User Posted February 1, 2009 FWIW there is a store on Ebay selling PT Tours for 129 delivered to your door. I wish he would sell out as I'm gonna end up buying another reel I don't need. BTW the reels are new, unblemished, not seconds. I purchased my Accurist PT from this guy last summer. Also another store on Ebay is selling the Accurist CX's on clearance you get two reels for 99 bucks. That's a deal Quote
brophog Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I've had several CX's over the years and have always been happy. Definitely not the smoothest reels I've ever used, but good enough, and plenty rugged. I still use them as my primary baitcasters, despite the fact I know there are better out there. Just a good, solid reel. I like them so much, I bought up a few last year on closeout for a good steal. They may never even leave the boxes, for all I know, but I also know that I have an extra reel around (if I ever need one) that I like to use. Quote
hawgchaser Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 I got my Accurist PT burner today. I took it apart to see what it was all about. Its a very well built reel and was lubed with Hot Sauce.(I like Hot Sauce though I know some don't) I will give it a run this weekend. If I like it, Im getting another!! Quote
hawgchaser Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 I gave the PT burner a hard workout this weekend. My buddy has several of these and loves them. He paid full price of $139 and still thinks they are a bargain. Anyway, he talked me into buying one bc they are on sale for $59. He told me it would bring me luck this weekend. I think he was right. I caught a nice bass on an olive X rap. Not a monster but fun non the less. Anyway, I am ordering another one of these reels. It performed very well and is a steal at $59!!! I don't know whats wrong with me but Im starting to acquire a decent amount of quantum gear and loving it all. I think they have stepped up their game. Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted February 9, 2009 Super User Posted February 9, 2009 According to all the review I've read about Quantum say the same thing; the last few years Quantum has made quantum leaps in quality. FWIW I like my Quantum Accurist fine, if it wasn't for this fad of round reels I find myself in I would use it a lot more. I purchased it last July for 59 I think, at that time it was the most I had ever paid for a reel. Glad you like your reel. Quote
