bugman Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 I have fished the Curado but never the Chronarch because I could not justify the extra cost. Now that the Chronarch B is on clearence at about the same price as the Curado E, I would like your opinion on which reel you think is better. Quote
Super User Raul Posted February 6, 2009 Super User Posted February 6, 2009 The Chronarch is a better reel in all aspects but one -----> weight. Quote
ghost Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 I agree w/ Raul...but I own both. Got the 201E7 a few months ago & bought the Chronarch 101B a couple weeks ago when BPS finally clearanced them out. The weight on the Chronarch B isn't that bad, it balances out well on most of the rods I have & most of the rods are 6'9" & longer. Also the color matches better w/ these rods. Also I like the look of the Chronarch B than the new D model. That's a tough call, you'll have to handle both to see which you like best. Quote
Super User Raul Posted February 6, 2009 Super User Posted February 6, 2009 Look at it this way: No matter how, you are getting a 270 dollars reel for 187, that 's a 70+ dollars savings. You get a cold forged handle, not stamped metal. You get a super tough and durable finish, not paint and clear coat. I 've got 2 Metanium XTs ( JDM version of the Chronarch ), I was about to purchase a Curado ----> BaitMonkey whispered in my ear and now I 'm the proud owner of a Chronarch ( arrived today ) :. Quote
mase088 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 The Chronarch the best reel I have used to date, but keep in mind size and weight isn't a big deal to me. Either way I have never used such a smooth reel. It can also cast the lightest lures with ease. Quote
