I was just wondering how the Bass Pro Reel Trade In Program worked.  Do they give a gift card or is it more of a voucher towards a new reel only.  Also, are you limited to the amount of reels you can bring in and I assume the reels have to work?  Sorry for the question, but I will be by a Bass Pro that weekend and was wondering if I should pack up some old reels to take with me.  Thanks for the help.

Voucher. Shimano doesn't participate any more.

Well, there goes that.  I was hoping to aquire a new Shimano Curado 200E7.  I wonder why Shimano sucks and doesn't want to participate?  Thanks for the info Dave.

Why does their declining to participate mean they 'suck'?

Their declining to not participate means they suck to me.  It doesn't necessarily mean their quality sucks.

Must have gone the way of the "free" extra spool.

Last year, my local BPS had barrels full of Zebco reels for $4.  You could buy one and turn it in for varying discounts on reels.   I did this and got like $30 off a new reel.

For those wondering about the program, the way it works is that you give them a reel.  You then get a coupon good for $X off the purchase of a reel.

I say $X because the value of the coupon rises as the price of the reel increases.

For example, buying a Revo S or the BPS reels, the coupon may be worth $15 off.  If buying a Revo Premier or Zillion, the coupon may be worth $30.

Those values are just examples.
