Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted February 3, 2009 Super User Posted February 3, 2009 Just wondering what speed reel you guys prefer for fishing spinnerbaits Quote
Super User Raul Posted February 3, 2009 Super User Posted February 3, 2009 It depends on the fishing technique, that mean that for some techniques I use a Curado B38, for other techniques I use a Alphas Type F, for others I use a Curado 200B and so on. Quote
basser89 Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I like a slower gear ratio for throwin spinnerbaits. The two reels I usually throw spinnerbaits on are an Accurist AC400 and an Energy E750PT (both have a 5.1:1 gear ratio). I may use a faster reel if I was throwing them for smallies to be able to pick up line a little quicker. Quote
Big Tom Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I use an old blue Pro Qualifier round reel. Its a 6.1:1 ratio reel and it serves me pretty well. Quote
bass wrangler569 Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I use a 7:1 for smallies and a 6:1 for largemouth Quote
Hoytman#1 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 6.2:1 or 6.3:1 Prefer IPT around 26" - 28" Quote
Bronzefly Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I use a 5.0:1 or a 5.8:1 for slow rolling large spinnerbaits in deep water and a 7:1 for burning them or fishing them shallow. Quote
detroit1 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I throw spinnerbaits from 1/4 to1 oz., and on spinning and baitcasting tackle, slow-rolled, jigged, medium fast, and burn them. I guess anywhere from 4.3 to 6.1 : 1. If i had a 7:1 i would use that too. Quote
Stingray23 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Quantum Energy 760PT 6.3:1. perfect all around gear ratio. Plenty fast and I can slow it down when needed. Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted February 4, 2009 Super User Posted February 4, 2009 If your limited to one reel, any 6 ratio will get the job done. Quote
